EVERYONE dreams of the perfect wedding day – from the dress itself to the images you’ll cherish for the rest of your life.
But the strict rules of a bride’s dress code had people claiming they simply wouldn’t attend.
On social media, one of the wedding guests asked for advice on the dress she chose.
The dress in question was a mid-length beige dress with silver embellishments and flowing sleeves.
She wrote, “I’m not well versed in wedding attire as I haven’t been to many due to my busy school schedule. Would this be too extreme for a wedding?
“The first photo is of the dress I intend to wear. I wanted to cover a small tattoo I have, hence the sleeves.”
She added that she would also be lusting after the front of the dress, as the V-neck was a little low for her taste.
The wedding guest then showed off the strict color scheme and style the bride wanted them to follow.
She was clearly going for a neutral theme as the allowed colors were different shades of brown and opting for elegant cocktail-style outfits.
While most people say neutrals are timeless, it seemed like people were stumped by which color they chose for their guests.
We all imagined what our wedding day would be like, it seemed Reddit users thought the bride had gone too far with the dress code rules.
They even said they would never have that type of color in their wardrobe and that they would rather not attend than spend money on an outfit they would never wear again.
One person wrote: “I can’t imagine the courage to ask my guests to wear certain colors.
Another commented: “The most beige color palette haha. I’m impressed that you were able to find a Cool wear.”
““Airy/earthy tones” and then giving only brown tones is a crime. What you have is great given the color palette,” wrote a third.
Meanwhile a fourth said: “Man, the way I would no go to this wedding.”
Clothing Etiquette for Wedding Guests
If you’re struggling to decide on a dress for wedding season, here are some rules on what not to wear so you don’t get into trouble.
- Folklore says that wearing red to a wedding means you slept with the groom.
- Casual attire like jeans and flip-flops should always be avoided.
- Any color that can be chosen like white or cream – even if it isn’t.
- Most would agree that your cleavage needs to be covered.
- Wearing white is a big no-no if you’re not the bride.
“These are not breezy shades. What a terribly boring color palette (and a ridiculous request, in my opinion). Your dress is beautiful,” said a fifth.
Another person added: “I’m so thrilled I don’t have the kind of friends who would request this ridiculous rubbish haha. This is absolute madness.”
