Thrifter admits he was about to give away the ‘impulse buy’ suit – until he finally looked at the tag and the date it was made

A STYLISH shopper scored big at a second-hand store – and didn’t even realize it.

She was about to donate her thrift store again until she noticed the tag.

She said she bought the jacket and skirt set months ago at a thrift store.

At some point, she almost changed her mind and donated again because she “impulsively bought it.”

But checking the inside of the tag changed everything for her.

WHAT WAS THIS?

The gray plaid ensemble included a button-down jacket and a pleated skirt.

Inside the piece, the label said “Christian Dior New York”.

Another Redditor chimed in to give their opinion on the set’s origins.

“I think they used that label around [the] late 1950s through 1960s, but I started doing a collection specifically for Saks later on, so that’s a little confusing to me,” they said.

“But again, it’s not stated that this is a Dior for Saks garment, and it could be that the latter simply sold it, not that they had exclusive rights or else.”

“I found a label with a date on it. It looks like it says 1/25/67 or 1/25/69,” the original poster wrote.

Many thrifters on Reddit raved about vintage Christian Dior purchases.

“So cute. Customize it to fit your body,” one wrote.

“It’s totally worth the cost and I would go for a formal look when you accessorize.”

“It means you gravitate towards luxury unconsciously,” commented a third.

“You actually picked her luxury designer piece by accident, LOL.”

“You can donate to me,” wrote another.

However, the Redditor decided he needed to sell the piece to make some extra money.

“I’m going to sell it,” she revealed.

“[I] I couldn’t afford to keep it if I wanted to. I’m moving and I need money and I don’t have space.”

Another Redditor even offered to help her sell the set.

“This is a vintage Dior couture suit. You should get at least $1,000 for it. I can send you some names of collectors who would be willing to pay that price,” they said.
