PEOPLE have only just realized what the strap on your jeans is actually for after one person started a huge online discussion about it.

The lacing is usually located below the pockets, close to the leg seam.

But ever since a fashion fan flagged it, people have been trying to figure out what exactly it’s used for.

The anonymous person shared his confusion on the online forum called Reddit.

They took a photo of his jeans, which was enlarged into a small bow that sat below the pocket of his dark blue jeans.

The fashion fan then shared a photo on the site with a caption asking other users for help in resolving the issue.

It said, “What’s the purpose of that on a pair of jeans?”

The post attracted a lot of attention, and others were confused as to why the jeans had this mysterious bow.

One joked: “It’s literally capturing all the edges you didn’t realize were there. Nail sticking out 0.2 mm, yes, he will find it.

“Arriving late and rushing to catch the bus, yes, that door handle has other ideas.”

Another added: “They work great for ripping off cabinet doors when you accidentally get close enough for the handle to catch one of the handles.”

People are realizing what the laundry signs on their labels mean – and it will make them last much longer

While someone else simply stated: “[It’s for] Swag.”

However, others seemed to figure out what exactly it is for, with one claiming it is a “hammer hoop”.

According to the pants company Make your own jeansthe mysterious underwire is what makes the difference between cargo pants and carpenter pants.

Carpenter pants need pockets and bonuses like lacing to help hold some of your equipment while working.

The website states: “If you inspect a pair of carpenter jeans, you will notice that they have a pull tab on one or both pant legs.

“The loop is typically placed about six inches below the main pocket.

“Many carpenter jeans also have a small vertical pocket just below the strap.

“Known as a hammer handle, it is used to store and transport a hammer.

Fashion editor reveals 90s trends that should stay in the past

’90s and ’90s trends especially have become a hit with Gen Z — probably because they didn’t wear them the first time around. Here, Deputy Fashion Editor Abby McHale gives a rundown of some of the returning trends we wish hadn’t.

Disc belts

“A hit with celebrities like Victoria Beckham and Blake Lively, the belt itself didn’t do anything a belt was supposed to do – it was a mere fashion statement, not a piece to actually hold anything up.

“And it looks like it’s not just me who’s furious about his return, with many taking to TikTok to give their opinions, saying, ‘Oh no, the discus belt! I don’t think I have the energy for that a second time.’ – I understand you.”

Jelly shoes

“After decades of not being seen on the shelves, they have reappeared and this time they are not just for children.

“Coming in a variety of colorful patterns, you can find them all over the high street, in flat or high heel versions.

“Not only will you look very childish wearing these shoes, but people will also need to learn that they are not the most comfortable – blister pads will come in handy.”

Pedal pushers

“Knee-length cropped trousers were in fashion in the 1990s and 2000s, but this time the fashion pack style is all over them – with Bella Hadid and Emily Ratajkowski wearing them recently.

“Original IT girls Marilyn Monroe, Audrey Hepburn and Brigitte Bardot helped make pants – also called Capri pants – look effortlessly cool and glamorous.

“Somehow, this time they don’t seem to be having the same effect.”

“Carpenters and other workers can slide a hammer through the top of the hammer handle, at which point the handle will fall into the underlying vertical pocket.”

The denim brand continues: “Carpenter jeans make your job a little easier by allowing carpenters to carry tools right in their jeans without the need for a separate tool belt.

“If your job requires you to carry and use small hand tools daily, there is no better pants choice than carpenter jeans.”

And this isn’t the only thing that people are just beginning to realize the significance of.

It was recently reported that Brits have just discovered what a washing symbol on their clothing label means.

Many people would not be able to tell you what the triangle means, as it can also take on four different shapes.

These include an empty triangle, a triangle with CL inside and a cross, a triangle with a cross, and a triangle with two diagonal lines.

A triangle with two diagonal lines inside a triangle with CL inside and a cross in both means you should use non-chlorine bleach.

Having an empty triangle means you can bleach the piece.

But a triangle with a cross will mean that the item should not be bleached.
