DENIM is a big player in the market and M&S in particular has a huge market share.

The retailer is number one for women’s jeans, with one in five women who bought jeans last year buying from M&S.

So it’s no surprise that it’s Carrot Grazer Ankle Jeans went viral on social media, selling more than 20,000 pairs.

Reviews and comments seem to suggest that they suit all shapes and sizes.

But do they do it?

Here at Fabulous we decided to put them to the test, with five team members of different shapes, sizes and ages trying them on and giving their verdict.

In my work, I have tried on many pairs of jeans over the years and IN is one of my favorite brands as I think they fit true to size so I had high hopes for these jeans.

What I love about M&S is that their jeans come in three different sizes: petite, regular and tall.

At 5’4, I fall into normal length as for my height I have quite long legs.

These jeans are ankle-length and for me they were the perfect length, they looked great with sandals or sneakers for the summer.

I’m a size 14 and at the waist they fit perfectly and although the jeans did stretch eventually, they weren’t too tight that they cut off my circulation.

I personally really liked the style of the jeans, a little wide in the thigh but not too wide in the leg, a bit like a ‘mum’ jean.

I also only wear high-waisted jeans, so those are a big standout in my book.

When you’re a fully paid member of the big booty club, like me, finding a flattering pair of shoes jeans Sometimes it can feel like a bit of work.

But luckily, this pair’s carrot-shaped top cut fit my shape perfectly — with a little extra room at the top and a slimmer, slightly tapered leg.

Hovering between a size 10 and 12, I sized it up, but if you’re a fan of a tighter, more comfortable fit, I recommend sticking to your normal size.

The ankle length is perfect for pairing with a boxy blazer, white tee, and a pair of heels for an elevated casual office look, like I did.

Although keep in mind that the skim cut means the legs can be a little chunky – I’m 5’1″ and would avoid pairing them with flats for that reason.

Buying jeans has never been a pleasant experience for me.

I’m 5ft 7in, with big thighs, a bum and a petite frame, so when M&S said they’ve invented a style that flatters all shapes, I was excited to try them out.

I hoped my endless days of disappointment in the locker room with piles of “mommy” jeans would finally be over.

Holding them close to my body, I was sadly filled with the usual dread, they seem too long and too wide.

But when they started, I was surprised. The fit at the waist and butt is tight, comfortable, but flattering.

I like the way they fall off my butt and the leg cut, which almost reaches in front of the bottom of the ankle, is a nice touch.

But it was the sideways glance that made me grimace. I felt like an Oompa Loompa circus clown. Sigh.

I definitely couldn’t wear them with my white sneakers, maybe with heels or sandals they would look better, but I’m very on the fence.

The quality is good – they are proper denim, nothing like flimsy, stretchy materials, but they are soft and not stiff.

I practically live in jeans so I’m always on the lookout for a new pair, so when I’m asked to try the new one from M&S Carrot jeansI had to obey.

I was a little doubtful at first, I have big thighs, so would the Carrot cut look good?

Also, at 5’11 tall, I tend to avoid ankle-length jeans because they usually fit really wrong (if I wanted pedal pushers, I’d get them).

However, I am pleasantly surprised by this.

I was worried that the carrot style It would hug my legs, but instead it brushes against them, and the straight cut is more flattering than I expected.

The length is perfect, making them the perfect pair to pair with sandals and flats this summer, and the carrot style isn’t too pronounced but remains flattering.

The material is super soft, which makes them super comfortable, but also really easy to wear – I’d probably pair them with a loose shirt or overshirt and chunky sandals for an off-duty weekend look, but I think they’d look fabulous combined with kitten heels and a blazer for the office too.

Well done M&S, you have influenced me.

I usually alternate between size 14/16, but size 16 fit me well.

The jeans were comfortable and soft and thick, and not restrictive when walking or sitting.

It fit my waist well and I felt like my stomach was ‘trapped’ which was good, but I felt like there was too much material/too much room in the thighs.

I also liked the look of the carrot cut on the ankle, which is very fashionable.

“I tested supermarket jeans and my favorite is Levi’s Dupe”

Jeans are a staple in everyone’s wardrobe, but can supermarket brands hold a candle to the iconic Levi’s?

Fabulous Deputy Fashion Editor Abby McHale tested four styles and compared them. Here’s her verdict…

“As a teenager, I lived in Joni skinny jeans from Topshop and got my first pair of Levi’s in my early twenties.

But now, in my late 30s, I love nothing more than supermarket jeans. They are a great value and very comfortable. They also last well, which my £100 Levi’s didn’t (so much for them staying good forever).

But even though I’ve converted to supermarket jeans, how well do pairs compare to those from high-end high street stores?

Here I compare a range of styles, from skinny and straight to cargo and wide leg, and give my verdict and reviews.

  • Bleached Wide Leg, F&F at Tesco, £22.50 – 5/5
  • Slim, George at Asda, £17 – 3/5
  • Cargo, M&S, £45 – 4/5
  • Straight Leg, Tu at Sainsbury’s, £20 – 4/5

I knew there was a reason I loved supermarket jeans so much and I don’t think this comparison test changed that much. And with some of the styles, it’s really hard to tell the difference.

Sainsbury’s Straight Leg jeans are a Levi’s knockoff but cost £20 instead of £100!”
