WEDDING is the perfect excuse to dress well, whether you are a bride or a guest.

But one couple has gone online in horror after the groom made no attempt to dress up for his wedding day.

The groom was criticized for his wedding attire

On social media, someone shared an image of the couple in a group and social media users were surprised.

The bride shared a photo for the couple after the wedding, writing, “Today was MY day!

“We did it… 13 years later and I married my forever partner!”

The bride was clearly emotional as she tied the knot and posed with her husband wearing a beautiful white floral lace dress.

But his partner seemed to have forgotten what the occasion was.

Instead of appearing in a suit – or even just pants and shirt, he decided to opt for a more casual look.

The image showed him wearing an Underarmour baseball cap along with an oversized red t-shirt and basketball shorts.

To top it off, he wore thick gray Nike sneakers.”

Sharing the image on marriage shaming subredditthe poster said they tried not to judge the couple, but couldn’t help themselves.

They wrote: “Ugh I try so hard not to judge but after 13 years together you would think the groom could try a little harder than dressing like a high school student on the way to the gym.”

‘How obsessed with himself!’ people are furious when woman shows off her dress for friend’s wedding, but SHE says the bride approved

The image soon went viral on Reddit, with hundreds of people taking to the comments to share their thoughts.

Many revealed that they had distanced themselves and not gone ahead with the marriage.

One person wrote: “Looks like he just walked in off the street. Oh hey – need a groom? Sign me up. At least make minimal effort. Gross.”

Another commented: “The bar really is in hell.”

Dos and Don’ts of Wedding Dress Codes

By Josie Griffiths, Fabulous deputy editor and bride-to-be.

I will never forget the wedding I went to in October 2022, where a guest wore a white dress.

It was ill-fitting, knee-length, and looked nothing like a real wedding dress, but that didn’t stop everyone from judging her.

The rules about wedding guest attire — which are annoyingly stricter for women than men — are meant to be about “not outshining the bride,” which is actually pretty hard to do on someone else’s wedding day.

But if you get it wrong as a guest, you’ll end up looking a little silly and in front of a bunch of people who don’t know you personally.

It’s just not the occasion for your new white dress, no matter how much online stores love to throw it in the ‘wedding guest’ section.

I would avoid anything too tight/short and ditch the super formal dresses unless the dress code requires them – you don’t want to wear a long sequin dress to a smart casual event.

Personally I don’t like black dresses either, it’s not a funeral.

Otherwise you will be quite safe. Technically, wearing red means you’re in love with your fiancé, but that’s the kind of rule most people would scoff at these days.

I always check the bridesmaids’ color, just to be safe, after the Spanish wedding, where I saw them walk down the aisle in exactly the same dress I had in my Asos shopping basket weeks before.

When in doubt, it’s safest to just check with the bride… but if you’re already doubting your dress, this might be the answer you need.

“Okay, so this… Whatever he’s wearing, it wouldn’t be acceptable even on a date. I hate it. I hate all of it. The fact that your grown man has this outfit on a regular basis is depressing,” wrote one third.

Meanwhile, a fourth said: “I wouldn’t have married him. If my husband had shown up dressed like that, I would have turned the car around, gone home and changed the locks.”

“Nothing says I love you like a Nike shirt and some sneakers,” said a fifth.

Someone else added: “She looks ethereal and he looks like he’s going to BMX. I hope he puts more effort into their wedding than he did in that outfit.”
