As prices rise, finding the perfect summer dress on a budget can be tricky.
So deputy fashion editor Abby McHale scours the high street for the best ones for under £30.
Best for… versatility
I CONSTANTLY talk about how much I love wearing a midi dress – because you don’t have to think too much about the look, it goes with lots of different accessories in your wardrobe and can be dressed up or down, so they’ll always come in handy.
That’s exactly what this Nutmeg at Morrisons dress does. You can use it on vacation, in the office, on the weekend. . .
There are so many options.
Besides, it’s a robbery.
Best for…comfort
NEXT has beautiful dresses for summer and this one is no exception.
The first thing I noticed was how comfortable it was.
The stretchy top half felt so soft against my skin.
The elastic waistband wasn’t too tight, while the flowy bottom half will keep me perky when the mercury rises.
It also has pockets – which are a great addition – and I’m also obsessed with the bright green shade.
It feels so summery.
Best for…style
THIS floral mini dress from Very positively screams summer.
It features exaggerated sleeves for added detail, plus a flattering V-neckline.
And it tightens at the waist, which gives a great shape.
It’s one of those dresses that will attract all the compliments thanks to its vibrant print and flattering silhouette.
Pair with chunky gold pumps for an elegant finish.
A definite winner.
Best for…glamor
Most dresses under £30 tend to be more casual than glamorous, so finding something for a night out can be very tricky.
H&M, however, has a lot of good options.
Paired with statement jewelry and heels, this long-sleeved ribbed mini dress is ideal for going out on the town.
It also comes in cream and black colors if you want a monochromatic look.
Best for… budget
IF you’re on the hunt for a dress that will cost less than £15, your choices may be quite limited, but Pep&Co – Poundland’s fashion line – offers just that.
Considering the khaki number costs just £12, I was pleasantly surprised by the quality.
There are additional details such as buttons (which often don’t bode well for a larger bust, but in this case they worked) and tie at the waist.
Best for…occasional wear
WHEN I put this dress on I couldn’t believe it was less than £30.
The fabric felt premium, the lining under the bust and midsection was luxurious, and I love the floral print detail.
With a whopping seven weddings in 2024, I’m now a master of casual wear, and this dress is the right choice.
It’s super flattering – the A-line style gives your body a great shape.
Best for…holidays
ONLINE searches for summer dresses are up 140% as people prepare to leave, but finding the perfect holiday dress is no easy feat.
This one from Primark ticks all the boxes.
Priced at £25, it has a gathered top half, great for all bust sizes.
The flowing bottom half still maintains its shape and cute details on the shoulders protect them from the sun.
Perfect with a pair of wedges. All I need is a plane ticket to somewhere warm.
