Bama Rush, or the University of Alabama’s wild week of Greek life, is popular on TikTok for its firsthand experiences of the university’s sorority life.

“Rush” week is a recruitment process that includes a series of themed rounds featuring a variety of social events that potential members must undergo to secure an “offer” from a Greek organization.

Although many colleges and universities have a Greek life culture, the University of Alabama’s rush week is famous for its intensity.

Bama Rush is a big deal because, according to ForbesMore than 36% of campus is involved in Greek life, and about 2,500 students join sororities each year.

Sorority hopefuls post videos of themselves dressed to the nines to secure a spot in a house.

Viral TikToks shared by recruits reveal that their clothes can get expensive — and fast.

A TikToker revealed that her running outfit totaled more than $5,900, including a Gold Hinge top and skirt, a nearly $2,000 watch, $545 Golden Goose shoes, and various jewelry (including Dior) worth hundreds each.

Popular content includes outfit-of-the-day videos, which attract the interest of millions of people who have no connection to the university.

Views under the Bama Rush hashtag totaled more than 3.4 billion.

Teens quickly flocked to the brands featured in these videos, including Gold Hinge, which has dominated the scene over the past two years, especially with its crowd-favorite tennis skirts.
