Marina Lukianova (@luxuryoutletnj), the founder of The luxury exita marketplace for second-hand designer bags, shared cleaning tips with The US Sun.

She explained that her preferred method required an inexpensive metal polish and some supplies that most people would have at home.

“All you need is Brasso, cotton swab, old cloth, leather brush and leather conditioner,” said Lukianov.

“Put some Brasso on the stained area and let it sit for 20-30 seconds.”

Then, using cotton wool, she rubbed Brasso nail polish into the area in circular motions.

Lukianov wiped off excess Brasso with the old cloth and applied leather conditioner.

“Scrub with the leather brush for about 20 seconds and then wipe off with a cloth,” she said.

Lukianov, who has been reselling luxury products for more than a decade, explained that he entered his career by chance.

Like many teenagers her age, she hoped to make some extra money by selling items she no longer needed.

“After graduating high school in 2012, I wanted to make some extra money, so I started selling clothes, shoes and accessories on Poshmark,” she said.

“I sold my own clothes that I no longer wanted, but I also sold items from my family and friends on commission.”

A lucky trip to a thrift store taught her that she had the right eye and motivation to break into the secondhand fashion industry.

“One day I walked into a thrift store and saw a pair of Fendi shoes for just $12,” she said.

Valuable, cost-effective discoveries revealed

Here are some of the best thrift store finds:

“I wasn’t familiar with any luxury brands at the time. I just thought maybe I could sell them and make some money.

“These shoes changed my whole life.”

Lukianov was shocked when her $12 purchase sold for $180, opening her eyes to how lucrative the market could be.

“That’s when my mindset changed in terms of business,” she said.

The small business explained that it taught itself all its tricks as it navigated the path to becoming a small business owner.

“I mainly look for items with a condition greater than 5/10,” she said.

“Whenever there are small imperfections, it’s easy to watch a tutorial on YouTube to possibly fix items for resale.”
