QUILTED jackets are a summer essential this year, with the reversible styles being a particular hit with fashion fans.

A quick scroll through your social media feeds will bring up some of the designs – but Brits think they’ve found the best on Next.

So much so that one shopper claims she “drove over an hour” to pick up the “viral” coat.

The style is characterized by fabric stitched in a series of square or diamond-shaped patterns.

Quilted stitching helps distribute insulation evenly throughout the jacket, preventing it from bunching or shifting.

Next’s navy blue quilted floral jacket costs £68 – but many shoppers think it’s worth the investment.

Bosses at the British fashion giant assured that “this was definitely worth the wait”, adding: “She is of the moment.”

“Perfect as a spring and summer outer layer, this quilted jacket has a boxy fit with a blue and white reversible floral graphic design,” they said.

“It has a button closure and a high collar, finished with dropped shoulders.”

It is made of 100% cotton on the outside and back, with the internal filling being 100% polyester.

Fashionistas took to social media to dub the navy blue quilted floral jacket “dreamy” and “beautiful”.

“I need it,” Caitlin Golder gushed.

“We love him!” Yasmin Langthorne added.

However, Lisa McColl encouraged some shoppers to wait before shelling out almost £70 for a coat.

“It will be in the Christmas sales,” she suggested.

Earlier this month, the Fabulous fashion team unearthed another Next jacket that will dominate trends this spring.

How to choose the best travel clothes

Deputy Fashion Editor Abby McHale says, “When it comes to deciding what to wear to the airport, several factors need to be taken into consideration.

“What the weather is like in the countries you are traveling from, how long your flight is (as comfort is essential) and how much luggage you take.

“If you’re going from one climate to another, make sure you have layers, and this may be your only option if you don’t have a lot of space in your luggage.

“A light jacket over a t-shirt with a thin scarf or sweater in your bag in case the plane is cold would work.

“Also don’t forget your sunglasses, although the blast of hot air is lovely when you step off the plane, you’ll need your sunglasses in your bag.

“On the bottom, opt for something loose and comfortable, there are so many gorgeous pairs of stretchy wide-leg pants at the moment, look for fabrics like linen that are nice and lightweight for a stylish yet comfortable look.

“To finish with the accessories, sneakers are the most practical option, but flat sandals can also look beautiful (just put a pair of socks in your bag for the plane), and a tall crossbody bag is perfect for keeping all your documents important things around for you.”

The trench coat is the perfect transitional piece—it’s a perennial wardrobe staple for a reason—but this season it’s been cut in half.

Now that the temperature is a little warmer outside, we store our winter coats in the back of the closet.

But we also know that a downpour of British rain could be on the way – making Mac’s (cropped) return a good choice to see him through in the summer.
