A THRIFTY shopper has revealed the best day to upload your old clothes to Vinted if you want quick sales.

Her impressive purchases, with some from as little as £1, prove you don’t need to break the bank to look good.

But like all fashion fans, her successful purchases mean Paula also needs to regularly clean out her wardrobe to make room for new pieces.

So the bargain-hunting fashionista flogs her old clothes on Vinted to ensure they go to a new, loving home.

Paula, from Lanarkshire, has accumulated more than 200 five-star reviews to buy and sell items on the marketplace app.

She told us: “I love Vinted! I’m no expert, but I have a few things that have worked for me, so I hope they’re helpful to others.”

And it turns out that the day you list your items can make all the difference.

Paula said: “Upload frequently, at least once a week, to keep your algorithm working.

“Uploading on a Sunday seems to be the best day for quick sales since so many people are browsing.”

Paula also recommends overpricing your items so people can haggle but you don’t lose money.

“I wouldn’t accept offers in the early days either,” she said.

“If it’s new, you’ll have more interest and more chances of getting the best price.”

Sharing some extra tips, she added: “Make sure your post settings work for you, if you have to travel miles to post, take that option out of your post for something that is easier for you.

“Include that you are open to offers and that you group offers in your listings, this encourages additional sales and bargains.

“If you don’t like the price someone offers, don’t accept it, resist if you know it’s worth the price.

New Vinted rules for you to know

IF you want to clean out your closet and get rid of your old stuff on Vinted, you’ll need to consider the new rules that recently came into effect.

If people sell personal items for less than they paid new (which is often the case with second-hand sales), there is no tax impact.

However, since January 1, digital platforms including eBay, Airbnb, Etsy, Amazon and Vinted must share seller information with HMRC as part of a crackdown.

You’re unlikely to be affected if you only sell a few second-hand items online each year – generally only commercial sellers who trade for profit may need to pay tax.

A £1,000 tax exemption has been in place since 2017 for commercial sellers trading for profit – the only time an individual personal item may be taxable is if it sells for more than £6,000 and there is a profit from the sale.

However, businesses now have to pass your details to HMRC if you sell 30 or more items a year or earn more than £1,700.

It is part of a broader tax crackdown to help ensure that those who increase their income through side hustles pay what they owe.

Although your details will not be shared with HMRC if you earn between £1,000 and £1,700, you will still need to pay tax as normal.

“Provide full details of any defects in your items, you don’t want to lose the sale and have the customer return the item.

“Leave feedback quickly so you and the buyer don’t have to wait too long for payment.

“Promote your Vinted on social media, it always brings me more messages and interest.”

We previously told how Paula discovered a genuine Prada bag in a charity shop in Lanarkshire.

The reissue of the 2005 nylon hobo bag cost just £40 – hundreds of pounds cheaper than the original price.

The 90s Prada bag is so iconic it’s been brought back by the fashion house, with a new version selling for £920.

In a brief social media clip (@brantastic_x), Paula said: “I authenticated it, it is true.

“It was an instant sensation to find something really special and unique for an absolute bargain price.

“It’s the best find when you’re saving money to find high-quality designer pieces.”
