In a viral TikTok video, she detailed her Vinted earnings and even took to the comments to share her tips for changing clothes quickly.

And although its worst month was selling £163.70 worth of clothes in June, things soon got better.

At the end of the year, his total earnings were £6,713.11.

According to her comments, Millie has around 2,000 items listed at any given time.

“I found that engaging with Vinted Facebook pages really helped with followers and sales,” she said.

“How can you see what items people are looking for.

“I’m always sending stuff to get rid of.

“I have too many clothes.”

She also encouraged other Vinted users to share their usernames in their comments section to help gain exposure for their pages.

“This is literally amazing, do you think paying for Spotlight helps?” a spectator asked.

Millie responded that Wardrobe Spotlight, Vinted’s built-in reinforcement feature, “definitely helped her.”

According to the bosses at Vinted, “Wardrobe Spotlight is a paid feature that can increase the visibility of your entire wardrobe and help you have a better chance of selling.”

“Once activated, we will promote and match your listings with members most likely to purchase them,” they explained.

“Your entire wardrobe is promoted, so we’ll feature the listings that best match your wardrobe in members’ individual search results and news feed.

“Members can discover more of your wardrobe and follow you to new listings with just a few taps.

“Your Wardrobe Spotlight activates immediately after purchase and runs for seven consecutive days.

“Don’t worry if you can’t see your Wardrobe Spotlight listings in your own search results – your listings are compared to other members based on your preferences.”

New Vinted rules for you to know

IF you want to clean out your closet and get rid of your old stuff on Vinted, you’ll need to consider the new rules that recently came into effect.

If people sell personal items for less than they paid new (which is often the case with second-hand sales), there is no tax impact.

However, since January 1, digital platforms including eBay, Airbnb, Etsy, Amazon and Vinted must share seller information with HMRC as part of a crackdown.

You’re unlikely to be affected if you only sell a few second-hand items online each year – generally only commercial sellers who trade for profit may need to pay tax.

A £1,000 tax exemption has been in place since 2017 for commercial sellers trading for profit – the only time an individual personal item may be taxable is if it sells for more than £6,000 and there is a profit from the sale.

However, businesses now have to pass your details to HMRC if you sell 30 or more items a year or earn more than £1,700.

It is part of a broader tax crackdown to help ensure that those who increase their income through side hustles pay what they owe.

Although your details will not be shared with HMRC if you earn between £1,000 and £1,700, you will still need to pay tax as normal.
