A WEDDING guest has sparked fury after modeling her embellished “princess” dress, which they think looks like a beach party outfit.

Trendy fashionista Ellie Frances took to TikTok to proudly show off the stunning outfit she planned to attend a wedding in – but the feedback was brutal.

In the videothe gorgeous dark-haired beauty could be seen posing in front of the mirror in the “princess” dress she ordered from online retail giant ASOS.

The pricey number, retailing for an eye-watering £225, was a show-stopping mini with dozens of pearl embellishments as well as a hot pink scallop hem.

Still deciding what to wear the item with, the ASOS shopper styled the dress with a pale pink bag, trendy earrings, stylish sunglasses and a pair of strappy heels with pink flower detailing to match the aesthetic.

”Guys, do we think this is appropriate for a wedding? I kept the tag because I don’t know if I’m going to keep it,” Ellie was on the fence about her purchase.

“I really like this,” said the shopper, seeking advice from other TikTok users on your platform.

“QUESTION I think I’m giving the princess if the wedding vibes help please. ”

‘Flashy’ outfit

But although the fashionista liked the look she wore for her “wedding night abroad”, the reaction on social media was a little different.

Around 400 people flocked to the comments to brutally criticize the young woman’s outfit as they insisted it was not suitable for nuptials.

One commented: “No, not a wedding, a birthday night or holidays, but not a wedding.”

Another agreed, nothing that could be mistaken for an influencer at a popular tourist spot near Spain.

People are furious when they see the bride’s mother’s VERY bridal white outfit, saying she’s a ‘red wine solution’ waiting to happen

”No, this is more of an Ibiza outfit.”

Meanwhile, others thought Ellie was a loyal Swiftie, with one writing: “Honestly it looks like you’re going to a Taylor Swift concert.”

However, it wasn’t all harsh criticism, as some praised the princess-style outfit, which was also described as “eye-catching”.

Dos and Don’ts of Wedding Dress Codes

By Josie Griffiths, Fabulous deputy editor and bride-to-be.

Josie Griffiths said: I will never forget the wedding I went to in October 2022 where a guest wore a white dress.

It was ill-fitting, knee-length, and looked nothing like a real wedding dress, but that didn’t stop everyone from judging her.

The rules about wedding guest attire — which are annoyingly stricter for women than men — are meant to be about “not outshining the bride,” which is actually pretty hard to do on someone else’s wedding day.

But if you get it wrong as a guest, you’ll end up looking a little silly and in front of a bunch of people who don’t know you personally.

It’s just not the occasion for your new white dress, no matter how much online stores love to throw it in the ‘wedding guest’ section.

I would avoid anything too tight/short and ditch the super formal dresses unless the dress code requires them – you don’t want to wear a long sequin dress to a smart casual event.

Personally I don’t like black dresses either, it’s not a funeral.

Otherwise you will be quite safe. Technically, wearing red means you’re in love with your fiancé, but that’s the kind of rule most people would scoff at these days.

I always check the bridesmaids’ color, just to be safe, after the Spanish wedding, where I saw them walk down the aisle in exactly the same dress I had in my Asos shopping basket weeks before.

When in doubt, it’s safest to just check with the bride… but if you’re already doubting your dress, this might be the answer you need.

”I like it for sure! the shoes bother me a little”, wrote a fan of the look.

Someone else recalled: ”Girl, you look amazing, wear that dress! Life is too short!”

A fellow style enthusiast told Ellie: Why are people saying Ibiza and festival, it’s stunning and I’ll definitely wear it to a wedding.

While Ellie – who insisted she was not a Swiftie – has yet to reveal whether she will be wearing the embellished number, she has confirmed that the dress will go on sale in August.

The dress, which is part of the ASOS LUXE range, is available in sizes UK 4 to UK 18 – and with 3,000 online shoppers already liking the mini dress, the Gem-encrusted mini dress with pearl embellishment and scallop hem in hot pink is one of the hottest finds of the summer.
