So, what colors should you consider to make your job interview a success?

Men’s fashion experts at Blake Mill teamed up with psychologist and fashion stylist Joanna Karamanis to reveal the eight popular colors that can make or break your job interview.

And after you land the position, you might still want to keep these tips in mind to avoid the office dress code.

White

“The myth that white looks elegant and suits everyone is exactly that – a myth,” says Joanna.

“If you don’t have a cool shade, it can look like you’re wearing a uniform, so my advice is to opt for an off-white or even cream shade, allowing you to look more approachable.”

pink

Joanna reveals: “Pink can work for formal interviews, but use with caution.

“Pink can make some skin tones look blotchy and stressed.

“People with warm skin tones should consider a peach shade.”

Black

“Although a black shirt or blouse is not ideal for an interview and should be avoided”, argues the fashion psychologist.

“A black suit or dress is stylish and professional.”

I rocked my outfits at the all-inclusive but was judged daily by elderly women – people think they were ‘just jealous’

Blue

Joanna says: “Blue is a common and reliable color for work and acceptable in many industries; It suits a variety of different skin tones and represents a smart and elegant appearance.

“However, it is seen as a little more casual in some industries, so make sure it suits the industry you are applying for.”

Green

“From army green to bright emerald, there is a huge range of greens to choose from,” admits Joanna.

“If you want to wear green to an interview, make sure you know the dress code of the company you are meeting with.

“For example, light green is more formal, while pale green
it’s more ‘fun’ or whimsical, and army green looks more casual.

“Therefore, it is essential to choose what suits you best.”

Red

Joanna advises: “Red represents power, passion and impact; It’s a bold statement and a striking color, but it’s often less suitable for a job interview and can look informal.”

Purple

“Although it is not seen as a formal color, purple can be great for various skin tones, especially if you plan to work for a design agency or in fashion,” he continues.

“Purple represents royalty, luxury and, in some cases, extravagance.

“However, it tends to be a ‘marmite’ color; people seem to either love it or hate it, and if you wear it in an interview it can be a hit or miss depending on the company you’re working for. interviewing.”

Teal

“Teal is a casual color, so while you might have a fabulous jacket or suit in teal wool, I wouldn’t advise wearing a teal shirt or blouse to a job interview unless again you know that it’s a great color for your skin tone and you know the company you’re talking to is more
relaxed with your dress code”, encourages Joanna.
