Watch the brutal moment the bride’s sister bakes her dream £4,300 wedding dress… and says it ‘terrifies’ her

CHOOSING a wedding dress is no easy task.

And for some bridesBy having brutally honest family members, it can be a blessing to help them make the right choice.

That includes Emily Horton, who discovered her sister was deeply shocked by some of her bridal favorites.

The bride-to-be visited luxury boutique Kleinfeld Bridal in New York to find the perfect wedding dress for her big day.

She took her mother Jamie, sister Madison, brother Johnathan and father Randy with her, and tried on three designer dresses.

But the second wedding dress she wore went down like a lead balloon among her nearest and dearest.

Emily’s try-on session aired on TLC’s Say Yes To The Dress, with show producers revealing that the Horton family “hated” the bride-to-be’s “simple” choices.

The first dress she tested was dubbed “a white bag sewn in the middle” by sister Madison.

But it was the second dress Emily adorned that her tough-talking sister didn’t like the most.

The second dress was the Sareh Nouri #AFTERGLOW style – a wedding dress with a round neckline and jacquard material and A-line cut, as well as a large bow at the back.

“Equally sweet and sophisticated, this A-line dress is crafted from floral jacquard fabric,” says a blurb.

“The round neckline falls elegantly into a breathtaking open neckline, adorned with a detachable bow, before merging into a runner-worthy train.

“Plus, it has pockets!”

But the £4,329 figure wasn’t a big hit with Madison, who said she was “terrified” by it.

“This dress is worse,” she criticized.

“I’m terrified.

“Someone help.”

Luckily, the Horton family were big fans of the third dress Emily tried on – a £6,350 Reem Acra number.

“It’s so perfect — Emily looks like a bride,” Madison said as she cried.

“It’s impressive.”

How to choose the perfect wedding dress

Wedding season is in full swing, but when it comes to choosing the perfect dress, most brides-to-be are probably feeling a little clueless.

As someone getting married in August 2024, Fabulous deputy digital editor and bride-to-be Josie Griffiths shared her top tips…

1. Give yourself time – unless you’re a sample size, dresses can take months to arrive. Don’t stress about looking too late, in my opinion dress shopping should be the second thing on your list, right after finding a venue.
2. Visit several stores – you don’t want to buy on the first visit.
3. But not too many – like a boy who can’t stop using Tinder, having too many options isn’t going to help you find the one.
4. Take people with you – women who will be honest but also uplift you, unlike the mean relatives in Say Yes To The Dress, and preferably people from different areas of your life who won’t automatically say the same thing. I went shopping with my mom and two best friends, who didn’t know each other and had different styles.
5. Think about it – I went back to the store before I made my final decision on the dress I chose, trying it again with my second favorite to make sure I was sure. It’s an expensive purchase and you can’t return it like you would your next Asos order, so take some time to reflect on it.
