WEARING metallic pieces can be intimidating if the dress code is not black-tie or cocktail.

Plus, there’s something inherently festive about metallics, with silver and gold pieces often taking over our wardrobes as the Christmas party season approaches.

But there’s no denying that metallics are in right now!

Last summer, Beyoncé led the silver trend with the release of her album Rebirthencouraging fans to wear silver clothing to their shows, so it’s no surprise that the trend has taken hold – and is here to stay.

At this year’s Met Gala, a slew of celebrities shined in gold and silver, with standout looks from Kim Kardashian in a custom silver Maison Margiela look, Serena Williams setting the gold standard in a one-shoulder Balenciaga gown, and Sarah Jessica Parker who stunned in a cage-inspired silver-embellished number.

Whether you’re ready to fully dive into metallics or just want to test the waters with some brand-new accessories, see how our fashion team is styling your summer metallics.

If, like me, you’re not ready to take on Goldmember from head to toe, don’t worry.

While metallics are huge in all pieces this season, accessories are also about being big, bold, and bright.

I love chunky jewelery and have been welcoming the return of chunky, stacked bracelets, like these two from Primark and M&S.

Plus, I love this necklace from ASOS because it’s heavy to wear (without hurting!) and feels expensive for just ten bucks.

I like to use neutral tones with golds, as they make metallics stand out more – and are synonymous with summer.

Finishing off with these John Lewis Mary-Jane flats and gold hardware on my Primark bag, the secret to this trend is the details.

When it comes to metallics I’m normally a gold girl, but after seeing this skirt in M&S I was instantly hooked.

I find this style of skirt so easy to wear, but this is the first silver version I’ve come across – and I love how it sparkles in the sunlight.

I paired the skirt with an oversized collared shirt, flat sandals, and my trusty Ray-Bans, but I also added some sparkle to my look with this large sequin bag.

Luckily, I’m not afraid to wear metals outside of the festive season!

I’m a true golden girl and perfectionist when it comes to coordinating all the metals in my outfit.

I recently bought this beautiful beach cover-up from Rita Ora’s latest summer collection at Primark (it also comes in a sleeved version).

I’m impressed with its quality and fit – at just £18 it’s a bargain and very versatile.

Here, I paired it with gold River Island heels and wore it over a bikini for a chic beach bar look that I’ll definitely take to my vacation later this summer.

You can also wear it over a slip dress to a garden barbecue with a pair of sliders, or style it like Rita and impress at a festival.

Ever since I bought a pair of silver pants nine years ago (Mango did a great Isabel Marant knockoff), I’ve loved adding a little sparkle to my wardrobe.

Metallics are neutral, so if you just want to add an accessory or go head to toe – like me – they go with absolutely everything.

My top tip this year is: don’t be afraid to mix up your metals.

Silver, gold, and bronze can sit side by side—whether you’re piling on the jewelry or wearing a silver suit with gold accessories, you should go ahead and shine!

I fell in love with this jigsaw two-piece when I saw it at the brand’s press day, as I can wear it now with gold flat sandals, then take it up a notch for Christmas with velvet mules and a tuxedo on top.

That’s what’s so great about metallics.

You might think they’re a one-trick pony, but they’ll actually work great in your wardrobe no matter the weather!
