“And then you see the World Foods aisle, take a little left down there. It’s much cheaper.”

She showed the same products and demonstrated how you can get a bag of garlic powder that costs 13p for 10g, with 100g costing £1.30.

Five simple ways to save money at Lidl

One said: “I feel like I’m constantly spending money on spices so that’s good to know! As someone who lives from check to check, I will do this in future instead of those £1 pots! Ty.”

Another added: “I never thought of that, thanks.”

And a third commented: “We need to gatekeeper!!! Before they increase the price.

How to save at your grocery store

THERE ARE lots of ways to save on your groceries.

You can look for yellow or red stickers on products that show when they have been reduced.

If the food is fresh, you will have to eat it quickly or freeze it for another time.

Making a list should also save you money, as you’ll be less likely to make hasty purchases when you get to the grocery store.

Buying your own brand can also be an easy way to save hundreds of pounds a year on your food bills.

This means abandoning “better” or “luxury” products and instead opting for “premier” or value-type lines.

Many supermarkets run unstable vegetable and fruit schemes where you can get cheap prices if they are misshapen or imperfect.

For example, Lidl runs its Waste Not program, offering 5kg boxes of fruit and veg for just £1.50.

If you’re on a low income and are a parent, you could get up to £442 a year in Healthy Start vouchers to use at the supermarket too.

Additionally, many councils offer supermarket vouchers as part of the Families Support Fund.

With inflation driving prices rose and the cost of living constantly growing, we are all looking for ways to save on essentials.

For many people, a major source of spending is the weekly trip to buy groceries.

One of the best steps reducing food spending means reducing food waste.

One step you can take to minimize food waste is to plan your meals before you go shopping.

We all know the feeling of coming home from shopping and realizing you forgot to buy an ingredient you needed.

We also know the feeling of buying something you didn’t need.

Although it seems simple, a shopping list can cure both of these problems.

Many of us like to stick with what we know. This usually means we will gravitate towards recognizable brands.

However, these items are often priced higher than generic store brand alternatives.
