Lidl aims to have 1,100 stores by the end of 2025 and will offer a high finder fee to people who can help find suitable sites.

Richard Taylor, Development Director at Lidl GB, said: “We know the majority of British shoppers still love shopping in person and we are more committed than ever to opening new stores and improving existing ones.

“We are opening an average of one new store per week, which is incredible, and our teams have done a phenomenal job to maintain this pace over the last two years.

“But there are still communities across the country who tell us how much they want – and need – a Lidl store.

“Our location fees are therefore available to absolutely anyone who can identify a viable option for a new store that we are not already aware of, and we welcome any suitable suggestions that will help us meet our ambitious target of 1,100 stores by the end of 2025.”

They clarified that the finder’s fee is 1.5% of the total purchase price of the freehold property or 10% of the first year’s rent for leaseholds.

This would equate to £22,500 for a completed £1.5 million purchase.

Requirements include parking space for more than 100 cars on an 18,000 square foot lot, with the population in the catchment area being 20,000.

Lidl said it is looking for sites in prominent locations with easy access and heavy footfall or traffic.

Lidl said it will also consider freehold, leasehold or long-term lease opportunities.

Lidl’s spectacular spring savings!

The supermarket has also published a list of desired locations across the country that may be of great interest if you know of a suitable location.

The list includes, among many others, Bristol, Liverpool, Manchester, Nottingham, Oxford, Birmingham, Cambridge and Edinburgh.

Since the start of 2022, Lidl has opened 23 new stores, including in Warwick, Hounslow and Straiton.

In March 2021, it became the 6th largest supermarket in the United Kingdom.

Members of the public who are aware of potential locations are encouraged to check the details against Lidl’s site requirements and contact the supermarket’s property team for further details.
