FOODIES has reason to celebrate today after Lidl announced the long-awaited return of a cult favorite bakery.
There are just a few days left until the 99p Cheese Twist returns to stores on May 30th.
Lidl describes the twist as an “impossibly light and airy savory treat” with “layers upon layers of buttery, flaky pastry intertwined with rich, savory mature British cheddar.”
News of the return comes after fans of the flaky treat called for its return on social media, with one writing: “The only thing that can fix the country is @LidlGB bringing back twisted cheeses!
“I don’t think I can go another month without Lidl cheese twists,” another added.
“Petition to bring back Lidl bakery cheeses!” a third commented.
There was even an official Lidl Cheese Twist appreciation society, created by Twist lovers.
Lidl had previously hinted that a Cheese Twist return could be on the cards, sharing a Spotify playlist in an Instagram Reel that had a set theme – with songs including Paul Russell’s Say Cheese and Chubby Checker’s The Twist.
To mark the return of the twist, Lidl also created a competition for fans to win a pack of Twisties ‘merchandise’.
Inspired by pop superstar Taylor Swift, there will be 1,989 fan packs to win on a first-come, first-served basis.
Inside will be a limited edition fan t-shirt, a Twisties friendship bracelet and a free Lidl Plus Cheese Twist coupon, available to collect in store.
There will also be a further 15,000 Lidl Plus coupons available for a free Cheese Twist, available through Lidl Twisties website.
To get a Twisties bundle or coupon, visit the website and share your name, address, email and phone number associated with your Lidl Plus account.
Fan pack distribution opens from 10am on May 24th until June 2nd.
The bakery’s treat will be available in stores across the country from May 30th.
