WITH prices as high as they are at the moment, everyone is looking for ways to save money.

And a woman has revealed the clever way she discovered how to get FREE fruit from Lidl, just by spending a penny in store.

“Here’s how you can get free fruit from Lidl next month,” Becky started her TikTok video.

“Lidl is giving away free fruit to anyone who spends at least 1 cent in store and has downloaded the Lidl Plus app.”

Becky was then shown grabbing a single lemon from the Lidl shelves for just 24p and taking it to the checkout.

When she was paying for the lemon, she looked through her Lidl Plus app, which then created a ‘Spin the Wheel’ game to try.

“I tapped the screen to spin the wheel and see which fruits I managed to win and ended up winning a pack of five bananas,” she said.

Although the freebie offer is valid for seven days, Becky simply went back to the store to pick up a few other bits and pieces she needed – as well as the free bananas.

“I scanned my card with the voucher activated and everything worked fine!” she added.

The deal runs until June 10 and is valid once a day, Becky explained.

“A free pack of 5 bananas?? yes please!” Becky captioned her video.

The comments section was quickly filled with people weighing in on the deal, with many admitting they had already taken advantage.

“I got a free mango or pineapple today!” one person wrote.

“This week we ate mango, strawberry, orange, raspberry and pepper,” added another.

“I crave fruit like there’s no tomorrow! Thank you for this!” a third commented.

“This is amazing,” said another person.

As another added: “Yes! I got the bananas!”

But others weren’t as impressed with the freebies they were offered.

Is it allowed to eat supermarket food before paying?

No, it’s not. In fact, under section 6 of the Burglary Act 1968, it is illegal.

Criminal law expert Rachel Adamson said: “Although you may have honestly intended to pay for a chocolate bar you ate whilst shopping in the supermarket, this is still technically illegal.

“Buying a product at the checkout is what transfers ownership of the product from the retailer to yours.

“And only when the sale is complete will you have the legal right to consume or use it.”

“I ate so many bananas for free – gutted because it’s the only fruit I hate!” one wrote.

“Hopefully I can get a pineapple later!”

“I ate a pack of 4 avocados 4 times… I don’t eat avocado,” another fumed.

As a third insisted: “Bananas is a victory. I keep getting lemons!”
