Graham Ellis was overjoyed when he saw bottles of red wine in Asda that had been cut up.

Thrilled by his findings, Graham took to social media to warn other shoppers, leaving many speechless.

Posting in Yellow Sticker Tips, Tricks and Shoppinga private Facebook group with 191,700 members, Graham shared a Photograph from his huge amount of yellow sticker wine.

Next to a photo of eight bottles of red wine, the savvy shopper wrote: “I kept coming back for more, but only after the staff changed shifts so they wouldn’t think I was an alcoholic.”

Graham was lucky enough to score bottles of Cellier des Dauphins Vinsobres, which have been reduced from £11 to just £5.25, saving him £5.75 per bottle.

Not only that, but he also bought a bottle of Plan de Dieu Côtes Du Rhône, which was once £9.50 but has since been reduced to £5.44, saving him £4.06.

Graham later confirmed he found the cheap buys at an Asda store in Dundee.

He described the wine as “class in a glass” and said: “Apparently they are revamping the wine and spirits department.”

Clearly, social media users were stunned by the Facebook post, which quickly racked up 314 likes.

Bargain hunters were impressed with Graham’s bargains and many took to the comments to express this.

One person said: “I would have gotten this in one go!”

Another added: “I would have taken everything and probably tripped on the way out.”

A third commented: “I would have just brought everything and to hell with what anyone thinks of me.”

While someone else wrote: “Great result – best wishes.”

When do supermarkets launch yellow sticker bargains?

The length of time supermarkets reduce their products varies between stores.

Here’s a rough supermarket-by-supermarket guide:

Aldi

Aldi uses a red sticker to show reductions on fresh produce such as bread, meat, fruit and vegetables.

This is when they reach the last day of validity.

Items with red stickers are most commonly found at opening and closing times.

IN

Reduction times may vary from store to store, but are most likely to occur close to closing time.

Asda

Asda said Which? that the yellow stickers are applied twice a day – morning and evening.

Cooperative

The Co-op told The Sun that its reduced clearance prices usually apply around four hours before the store closes.

Lidl

Lidl has a similar procedure to Asda and Aldi with twice-daily reductions.

However, individual stores may choose to reduce prices throughout the day.

Morrison

Online shoppers said Morrisons has the best bargains first thing in the morning.

However, the store said Which? There are no specific times for yellow sticker price reductions.

Sainsbury’s

Sainsbury’s told The Sun that it is at the discretion of the store manager to offer discounts.

However, shoppers have reported that the best deals are in the evening from 6pm onwards.

Tesco

Tesco said there is no specific time for the reduction, but again, most people have found prices to be reduced from 6pm.

Waitrose

As with most other stores, Waitrose shoppers said the best reductions are found before closing.

However, the store stated that there is no specific time for the yellow stickers to be applied.

Meanwhile, a bargain hunter shared: “I have never seen yellow wine with a sticker in my entire life – I obviously live in the wrong area!”

At the same time, one shopper was clearly impressed by Graham’s trick for packing more bottles, as the Facebook user simply wrote: “Genius.”
