PRIMARK has unveiled a new SpongeBob SquarePants-themed cafe in selected stores – and shoppers are rushing to visit it.
The high street retailer has teamed up with Paramount to celebrate 25 years of the iconic cartoon character.
SpongeBob fans can bag a selection of branded merchandise including loungewear, hoodies, shorts and socks.
There are also a variety of matching pajamas in sizes for all members of the family.
And it’s not just SpongeBob merchandise that’s up for grabs, fans of the show can also purchase items featuring Patrick and Squidward.
The television show also takes over selected Primark cafes from June to August.
Manchester’s Trafford Center in Birmingham and Braehead, near Glasgow, have had a makeover worthy of the Krusty Krab.
Primark bosses at the Braehead store gave customers an inside look at the new cafe on Friday, saying: “SpongeBob Café now in Braehead”.
The clip has racked up more than 200,000 views with shoppers desperate to visit.
“I want to go,” said one.
A second wrote: “REQUESTING A VISIT FOR MY BIRTHDAY PLEASE.”
A third insisted: “Let’s love Bob a little.”
“STOP, WE NEED TO GO NOW,” shouted a fourth.
Meanwhile, a fifth echoed: “Oh my God, we have to go.”
It could be the perfect day out for families, with characters like SpongeBob, Patrick and Plankton scheduled to visit stores in June and July.
SpongeBob Cafes will also offer items like the Secret Krabby Sandwich, Under the Sea Pineapple Bubble Tea, Kelp Crunch Waffle and Chum Wings.
A kids’ lunch box – which includes a bagel, snack, a piece of fruit and a drink – costs £4.95, while hot meals start at £5.95.
But die-hard fans of the show have identified a major problem with the themed menu.
“Where are the Krabby Patties?” smoked one.
A second chimed in: “Imagine not eating a Krabby Patty at SpongeBob’s restaurant.”
And a third asked: “Wait, there are no Krabby Patties!?”
Primark licensing director Sarah Jackson said: “Our partnership with Paramount continues to go from strength to strength.
“We know our customers love our product collections, from Paw Patrol to our iconic TMNT
Primark’s director of new business development, Tim Kelly, added: “We’ve seen an incredible response from customers to our rotating coffee themes so far, so we’re delighted to reveal the next chapter with SpongeBob and Patrick at the center of attention.
“At Primark, we are always looking for ways to provide our customers with unparalleled store experiences and give them more reasons to visit their local store.”
Why is Primark the place to go for bargains?
JUST how does Primark do it? Continue delivering fashionable items at such incredible prices? According to the bosses, it fell to four points.
- They “sell a lot of items” – thanks to this they are able to save money by buying in bulk for their 191 UK stores
- They “do very little advertising”
- Although their clothes offer the “latest trends,” they “do not use expensive hangers, tags, or labels.”
- And finally, they try to be “as efficient as possible when transporting products from factories to stores”. This includes things like asking “suppliers to package our t-shirts so they’re ready to go straight to the shelf.”
