ALONGSIDE its cheap prices and iconic middle aisle, Aldi is known for its jerks.
From copycat perfumes from cult designers to imitations of viral Sol de Janeiro products, the German supermarket has it all.
But Aldi’s dupes don’t stop at beauty.
The budget store also has a plethora of silly food and drinks.
And a recent discovery of this edible copycat line has left sweet-toothed Brits in a frenzy.
Aldi has the delicious San Pellegrino Lemon fizz for almost half price.
Foodies who got their hands on the tins said they “taste the same” – some even PREFER Aldi’s cheap version.
Ridge Valley Italian Style Lemon Flavored Soda costs £2.99 for a pack of six – meaning each can costs 49p.
Meanwhile, a six-pack of San Pellegrino Lemon will set you back £5.
The reception to Aldi’s fizzy jerk has been overwhelmingly positive.
Social media is full of testimonials from delighted buyers who love both the taste and the price.
Ellen Mclean said it tastes “the same but at half the price” of San Pellegrino’s famous lemon fizz.
“I’ve tried these before and they taste as good, if not better, than San Pellegrino,” joked Nathan Head.
Jennie Lewty, a long-time can drinker, hilariously revealed that she calls Aldi’s version “San Pellagri-not”.
Aldi’s version captures the essence of San Pellegrino Lemon, offering a crisp, tangy lemon flavor with plenty of sweetness, shoppers said.
What’s more, the budget dupe has fewer calories per can, at 72 per pop, compared to 75 in branded fizzy.
However, some shoppers have warned that multipacks are difficult to find in Aldi’s drinks aisle.
Supermarket bosses have also restricted customers to buying a maximum of 10 boxes per store.
When is the best time to shop at Aldi?
WHEN it comes to shopping at Aldi, the best time to do so depends on what you want to buy.
For reduced items – when stores open
Items with red stickers are rare across Aldi’s 830 UK stores, but the supermarket says none of its food goes to waste, so there are some to be found – if you’re quick.
A spokesperson for the supermarket said: “All items are reduced to 50 per cent of the recommended retail price before stores open at their best time or best before date.”
This means you’ll have a better chance of finding reduced-price foods if you go to stores as soon as they open.
Opening hours vary depending on the store, but most open from 7am or 8am. You can find the hours of your nearest store using the supermarket online store finder tool.
For special purchases – Thursdays and Sundays
Special Buys are Aldi’s weekly collection of items that it doesn’t normally sell, which can range from pizza ovens to power tools.
New stock arrives in stores every Thursday and Sunday, so naturally these are the best days to visit for the best one-off specials.
For an even better chance of bagging the best items, head to your local store during opening hours.
However, you don’t need to go to stores to buy a Specialbuy.
They are also on sale online, usually at midnight on Thursday and Sunday, and you can order them up to a week in advance.
As long as you spend at least £25, items will be delivered free of charge.
Remember: once they’re gone, they’re gone, so if there’s something you really want, visit asap
