IT’S no surprise that Jamie Oliver created a series entirely about air fryers, when 50% of British homes now have one.
Not only do they help you save on your electricity bill, but they also make preparing dinner much faster.
And now, the professional chef has shared his take on how to use the air fryer for meals the whole family will love.
In the first episode of his Channel 4 TV show: Jamie’s Air Fryer Meals, he showed us how to prepare an easy midweek meal using frozen fish in just ten minutes.
To start, Jamie took out his double tray fryer and took out the tray that allows airflow.
Simple midweek masterpiece
Jamie Oliver
He explained: “They tend to have a little trivet tray, and that’s for airflow, and when you take it out, you basically have a pan, a pan, call it whatever you want.”
He then added some rosemary, garlic and olive oil to the ‘pan’ and place in the fryer for five minutes at 200 degrees.
While cooking, he started preparing the frozen cod fillets – but added that you could use any fish you had in the freezer.
To elevate the fish, he created a simple pesto using four sun-dried tomatoes, almonds and parmesan and blended the mixture before spooning it on top of the code.
Then he added layers of cured ham with a sprig of rosemary and a little olive oil.
After the rosemary and garlic were infused in the skillet, he took it out and added a can of butter beans and some red wine vinegar.
Then, he places the fish on a tray to fry for eight minutes along with the beans.
Jamie also added a squeeze of lemon to the tray with the fish to take care of it and give it extra flavor.
After cooking everything, he added parmesan cheese to the bean mixture.
Since he didn’t drain the canned beans, he created a thick, delicious sauce.
Once plated, he added the fish on top and then revealed his trick for creating a simple side dish to put your vegetables on without having to prepare more dishes.
He took two handfuls of spinach and placed them in the “pot” where the beans were cooked.
He then placed them in the fryer – which was turned off – for 40 seconds until they deflated.
Not only does this mean you can add another side to your meal quickly, but it also gives the spinach some cooking flavor with the leftover bean dip.
“A little balsamic vinegar is a dream, that’s it,” he added as he ate the dish.
“This fish is really very delicate, very scaly.”
A “simple midweek masterpiece,” he called it, and we have to agree.
