WHEN IT COMES TO ROSE wineBritain went Whispering Angel crazy – and even Adele Said she’s a super fan.

But with bottles costing up to £24, you might be excited to discover that an affordable dupe is now at Aldi, and wine experts are saying it might even taste “better”.

The supermarket now sells Chassaux et Fils Saint Victoire Provence Rosé as part of its new range.

And at £12.49, it might be more down to earth for your Saturday night tipple.

Made with the same four grapes, the Aldi dupe claims to offer a high-quality product at a more affordable price.

And wine experts have noticed the idiot Whispering Angel, too.

Lucy Hitchcock, who runs the Wine Partner page, took to social media this week to praise the wine.

She gushed: “Aldi has taken things to the next level with this idiot.

“I mean the absolute audacity.

“Yes, they are both very similar and both are labeled Côtes de Provence, they are even made with the same four grapes.

“But this wine from Aldi is not only almost half the price, it is also from a very specific quality area of the Côtes de Provence known as Saint Victoire.”

Lucy put Aldi’s offering to the test and raved: “This is a stunning rosé.

“I can definitely taste the similarities in the mix.

“I’m understanding summer red fruits such as raspberries and strawberries with a beautiful pink freshness of the grapefruit and in the end I’m getting something softer like white peach and melon.”

She added that it had the same “mouthwatering freshness” and “smooth texture.”

Lucy concluded: “I’m saying the new Aldi wine really is better than the whispering angel… I’ll let you be the judge of that.”

But buyers better be quick, as the drink has already caught the attention of rosé fans in social media since it hit stores earlier this week:

One follower commented: “I’ll have 10 bottles please.”

While another said: “We need to try this.”

A third wrote: “Run, don’t walk!”

Whispering Angel is the flagship wine from Château d’Esclans, a vineyard north of Saint Tropez, France.

After exploding onto the market, it became a celebrity favorite – including among the Beckhams.

Adele even told US Vogue that his first closed food store was ketchup and Whispering Angel, and said that it “turned me into a barking dog. That didn’t make me whisper.

The hype is due to its beautiful bottle, Instagrammable look and champagne-style branding.

Whispering Angel has made rosé cool again, many sommeliers believe.

There was a period when rosé was seen as inferior to its red and white counterparts.

But its popularity has soared in the last five years, thanks in part to Whispering Angel.

The hype is not destined to die down either.

Global rosé consumption will increase from 2.23 billion liters in 2020 to 2.63 billion in 2025, according to market analyst GlobalData.

But it’s not just Aldi’s rosé that has Brits drooling.

The German supermarket’s own brand gin – which costs half the price of its main rivals – was voted “one of the best in the world”.

The story behind Whispering Angel’s fame – and some accessible idiots

It’s one of the best-known – and loved – wines in the world, but Whispering Angel comes at a price.

Made by the French winery Château d’Esclans, in Provence, it first hit the market in 2006 and transformed the fortunes of rosé wine.

Once dismissed by wine experts as poor relative to red and white, rosé has become a year-round must-have thanks to Whispering Angel’s clever marketing, complex flavors and A-list fans. including Adele and Victoria Beckham.

It is now the most recognized rosé wine, selling a million cases a year in 106 countries. It’s even credited with introducing Americans to rose wine, with Nielsen ranking Whispering Angel as the best-selling rosé wine in the US.

Perfectly pale pink in the glass, it is made from red grapes including grenache, cinsault and vermentino, and is enjoyed for its rich red fruit ripeness, floral notes and smooth, dry finish.

It can be drunk with everything from seafood to salad, but it’s a dream on its own, ideally served cold on a sunny day.

However, at around £20 a bottle, it’s no ordinary wine unless you’ve got a Beckham-sized budget. But – whisper it – there are some fantastic, similarly tasting wines on the shelves, so you won’t need to go without them completely.

To help you find the perfect Whispering Angel doll, we tested a range to see which is the ultimate Provençal-style pink without the price tag.
