Editor Flaneurandlá shared her hair care tips in a post.

They explained that they preferred to wash their hair once a week, at most twice when they really needed it.

“I’m a big summer person. Especially a beach person,” they said.

For starters, on beach days, they wear hats to protect their skin from ultraviolet rays and protect their dyed hair.

“Yes, it obviously makes everything flatter, but once I get in the water it’s fine,” they said.

At the beach, a quick and easy rinse helps to exfoliate your scalp.

“While in the water (this only applies to ocean water), I like to wear my hair underwater and give my entire scalp a gentle scratch,” they said.

“I think it helps as a natural exfoliation in the salt and sand too [it] feels great.”

After showering, they explained that the products help preserve the life of dyed hair.

“After swimming, I remove excess water, apply leave-in conditioner or detangling spray, and brush my hair,” they said.

“When I finish at the beach and go for my last swim, I repeat all of this and also add a mouse for volume and crease.”

For an extra boost, a handy trick brought the hair back to life.

“Sometimes I also add a texturizing spray if I have somewhere to go after that,” they said.

In the pool, maintenance steps before entering the water resolved the issue.

“For the pool, I like to rinse my hair with cold water and do the same thing, but you’re generally less likely to get in the water if you can avoid it,” they explained.

Chemicals in the pool, they added, can damage expensive hair color.

To avoid destroying the colorful work, they avoid the pool as much as possible.

“I avoid it because of the damage it can do to my hair having high/lowlights/balayage,” they said.

As for the water in the lakes, they added that they often have no choice but to wash their hair.

“I wash my hair after lakes IF I sink. I’m not a big fan of sinking into lake water,” they said.
