A BEAUTY fan has revealed the results of a viral beauty hack – but warned never to try it in the summer.

Evie tried and tested an exfoliating foot mask “for a bit of fun” but was left in shock when she saw what happened to her foot.

She took to her TikTok page @evie.xo777 to share her concerns in a video and even wrote a caption: “Do not watch if you are easily disgusted.”

Foot peels are a form of chemical exfoliation and usually come in a jelly-like mixture of ingredients that work to exfoliate the skin.

These ingredients include alpha hydroxy acid, glycolic acid and/or lactic acid.

Typically, you apply the formula to the skin of your foot and then cover it with a sleeve to let all the ingredients work together.

This allows the acids to break down the bonds that hold the skin cells together, and for a few days after the treatment, bits of dead skin will peel off the foot.

But six days later, Evie revealed her foot was still falling off and was left in shock at how much skin was peeling off.

The video showed Evie in clear panic as she witnessed the results of the treatment.

Since the video was shared, it has gone viral, with more than 2,500 people rushing to the comments section to share their thoughts.

One beauty fan suggested: “Salt scrubs are great after a peeling mask. They gently exfoliate without tearing the skin.

However, further down in the comments section, Evie revealed that she had tried this, but “it doesn’t work as much as you might think”.

Another person suggested it was the wrong season to get this type of beauty treatment, writing: “Girl, this is winter activities.”

Another person also shared their experience writing, “I did this and went to the beach and had a leather bag full of sand.”

Another beauty fan who also tried and tested the viral hack added: “The worst thing I ever did in my life was peel my feet during the summer.

“My skin peeled for 67 business days.”

A different commenter added: “Girl I did the same thing a month ago and it peeled for 3 weeks I was embarrassed.”

Others felt bad after watching the video and commented that it stopped them from eating.

While some enjoyed the satisfaction of taking off the skin.

One said: “It’s so fun to take it off.”

How do foot peels work?

Foot peels are a form of chemical exfoliation and usually come in a jelly-like mixture of ingredients that work to exfoliate the skin.

According to Cleveland Clinic, these ingredients include alpha hydroxy acid, glycolic acid and/or lactic acid.
