A WOMAN who organized her own Skincare Olympics in honor of the 2024 Paris Games has revealed that an $18 purchase came first – beating a fan favourite.
She had high expectations for a popular anti-aging product, but ended up coming in third place.
Reddit user Omfgjustpickaname brought some hilarity to the Olympic festivities with her own “Skin Care Olympics.”
In it publishshe shared her top three beauty products and ranked them gold, silver, and bronze.
She weighed the pros and cons of each product and explained their ratings.
In an unexpected result, the gold and bronze winners were both creams, and the silver position went to a fashion leader.
GOLDEN GAME
The product that “took home the gold” was CeraVe Moisturizing Cream, US$17.78.
“After being passed over for the 2020 games” in favor of the brand’s moisturizing lotion, she joked that the drugstore purchase “had an incredible debut this year.”
“Judges”, aka herself, described her “contributions” as plump, soft, calming and “a consistent contender”.
She included some points for pilling, which is when the product flakes or sticks.

The Redditor said the addition of the pump was “enough” for the moisturizer to win first place.
“It just shows what showing up every day can do,” she added.
SILVER KILLING
In second place was Aquaphor Healing Ointment, $12.97 on Amazon.
She admitted it only “appeared” as part of her scamming “routine,” but it had a big impact.
“It quickly became pioneering when chapped lips were added to events,” she explained.
The Redditor said that “Aquaphor is often overlooked for never showing up to training, but no one can argue that reliability is there when it’s needed.”

BRONZE BEAUTY
The bronze finish went to tretinoin, a skincare staple in many people’s regimens.
The prescription retinoid treats breakouts, scars, fine lines and wrinkles, and sun damage.
“Tretinoin has the nickname “gold standard,” so expectations were high,” she noted.
The unexpected “purge” of acne and the emergence of other skin problems “eliminated a significant number of spots early on.”
“The pressure clearly got the best of us, as the eczema was able to take control from behind,” she wrote.
Despite the product’s “poor performance,” she believed this was just the beginning of “what tret is capable of.”
Although she fell behind, the Reddit user said she hopes to see a “strong improvement” by the 2028 Skin Care Olympics.
