MY approach to beauty trends falls into two categories.
I’m either an early adopter and quickly integrate them into my routine, or I ignore them completely.
Recently, a product bucked the trend and appealed to me through a very slow burn – tanning drops.
I put three to the test.
BUDGET
ELF Cosmetics Tanning Drops, (£12 for 30ml, elfcosmetics.co.uk):
This was the thickest formula of the three tested and the hardest to blend – which might sound like a negative, but it actually meant I could use it with a brush as a liquid bronzer, as well as with my skincare for a glow. total.
However, if you want a sheer, unnoticeable coverage, it’s important to note that you’ll have to mix it with another product.
It’s the only product that offers more than one shade, with three in total, which is a huge win for the most affordable option here.
MIDDLE RANGE
ISLE Of Paradise Liquid Sunny Serum (£15.95 for 30ml, boots.com): With skin-loving ingredients niacinamide, squalane, and jojoba oil, I love that this is basically a skincare step and can replace my morning serum instead of adding to my already strenuous routine.
It’s bright but not shiny, and a little goes a long way – so much so that you need half a pump at most.
The only downside is that it only comes in one shade, so fingers crossed there are more on the horizon.
This is my favorite as it fits perfectly into my routine.
LUX
DRUNK Elephant D-Bronzi Anti-Pollution Sunshine Drops (£35 for 30ml, boots.com): The original, but are they the best?
According to TikTok, there’s no doubt about it, but I’m still not convinced.
I love the light texture, which is almost like water, but as soon as I apply foundation on top it’s as if the shade never existed.
It’s super subtle, so if you just want a little help to feel better before the school run or when you hit the shops, it’s great, but don’t expect fake tan results.
