All it takes is an easy trick to avoid a common application error that causes cracking.

Concealer can be used to cover imperfections, but for some, it can make the eye area look even worse if you’re not careful.

“I’ve always had issues with my under-eye concealer forming lines and cracks as the day goes on,” said Redditor RayceC.

“So I tried baking the under-eye area and it solved the problem!” she added.

This makeup method may have worked for her, but she remained “confused” about why so many other people noticed worsening cracks after trying the baking technique.

With this surprising realization, she decided to define the beauty record directly.

“I looked at what the cause might be and realized that the one step that is never discussed makes all the difference,” she said.

It was time to use her crucial crease-fighting tip.

For the best results, she recommends incorporating the technique before applying any powder.

“Use a damp beauty blender to smooth out the concealer and immediately apply powder over it before looking around and causing more creases,” she said.

“If you don’t follow this step, your concealer will probably already have creasing and if you apply powder over creasing concealer, you’ll just set the crease and make it look worse,” she added.

The method is ideal for those with more “mature” skin.

The best-selling Beautyblender Original Makeup Sponge retails for $20 and is described as featuring soft, latex-free foam to quickly blend makeup for a skin-like finish.

She also described the cooking process made even more famous by Kim Kardashian.

“Baking is just setting the foundation/concealer with powder so it stays put,” she said.

“You put the powder on and let it sit while you do other things — I do my brows while it sets,” she added.

“Then you brush and powder the rest of your face. I usually bake under the eyes and along the jawline under contour.”

She explained how she originally learned the “jaw roast” technique from drag queens.

Some users asked the age-defying makeup expert questions.

“Won’t this emphasize my pores even more?” asked a reader.

“I really hate using powder products because I almost feel like they make my skin look worse than it did before I started. The Porefessional primer works really well, but even that doesn’t work miracles,” she added.

“I try to only bake in specific areas. I use baking on my jawline as a contouring trick and I do my under-eyes to avoid cracking from the concealer,” she replied.

“The rest of my face only gets the usual light dusting. I have oily skin, so if I don’t use any powder, my makeup disappears into oily streaks as the day goes on,” she continued.

She also shared an additional tip.

“I also do this with my concealer. I run it down and blend it up, rather than going up near the lower lash line and down,” she said.

Anti-aging tips

  • Keep your skin hydrated internally by drinking water and externally with moisturizer.
  • Always use sunscreen, even if you are not in direct sunlight.
  • Use Vitamin C to brighten your skin and don’t forget to apply it to your neck.

“I found that doing it from top to bottom made everything very thick and hard.”

Another Redditor explained what works best for her.

“I can’t bake the underside of my eyes, it gets super dry and wrinkled. What works best for me is to apply the powder under my eyes with my finger and make sure it’s really pressed into the concealer,” she said.
