On a video series Liked by over 50,000 people, Renée answered numerous questions about her hair and discussed how she keeps it healthy and long.

She explained how hair typically grows half an inch a month, so you can expect about six inches a year, and she rarely cuts it.

Renée added: “A hairdresser will tell you something different, everyone will shout: ‘you have to cut it for healthy ends’.

“I’ve had long hair several times in my life – and when I say long, I mean beyond my butt.

“And the only way to grow your hair is to not cut it.”

But to avoid cutting your hair you need to “not put heat on it and not damage it”, he added.

Renée said she cut her hair in January and removed “an inch [the ends]” after she noticed an old curl from a perm she got in June 2020.

But she usually “goes months and months” without cutting her hair.

However, if she “sees split ends”, then she is not afraid to trim her hair a little.

Otherwise, she advised her followers to “treat your hair better, so that it is healthier, so that it needs to be cut as little as possible.”

Additionally, Renée “never uses heat” to dry or style her hair.

“I can’t remember the last time I put a styling tool on my head,” she commented. “30 years ago? Mid-90s, I think I got the ‘Rachel’ cut!”

As for how often she washes her hair, she does it once a week, then “takes it out of the towel” and “shakes it out” before letting it air dry.

“In two hours it is dry – why do I need [to use] a hairdryer?” She asked.

I’ve been disguising my hair loss for 15 years – my 2 styling products add more density and give really good coverage

“It’s not worth the damage, the effort, [or] time [and] I think it looks perfectly fine the way it hangs and dries after a shower.”

Renée suggested that more women need to “make peace” with the hair they “have naturally.”

She added: “I got a perm [my hair] for a long time because I liked curly hair. I am not [naturally] has curly curls.

“I [also] I love red hair, I love black hair,” but now she maintains her natural brown color with weird highlights.

The video creator, who is presumed to be in her 50s, continued: “Someone said this color makes me look old – this is mine. [nautral] color!

“I’m going gray, it’s just piece by piece – it’s there. I don’t mind gray hair.”

Renée’s hair secrets

The hair care rules Renée follows to have super long, healthy hair…

  • Does not take vitamins
  • Have a clean diet
  • Wash and condition your hair once a week
  • Do not use heat
  • Rarely cuts
  • Occasionally dye strands of hair
  • Embraces your natural hair and texture

As for how she gets her hair so shiny, she said it was “untreated, virgin, undyed hair” and “the only parts of my hair that are messy are the obvious blonde highlights.”

Renée’s videos received thousands of responses and @davidlopezzz commented: “I’m a hairdresser and these are all facts.

“Whenever someone asks me how to grow their hair, I literally always respond with ‘…don’t cut it?’”

He added: “If you are constantly styling and heat-dying, you need small trims every couple of months to prevent breakage and split ends that lead to breakage, so your hair CAN get longer.”

Her comment read: “As a hairdresser. With long hair. You are 10000% correct. Believe this woman. She’s not lying.

“And stop hating on her ‘feathered’ style. Know your stuff before you speak.”

Someone with the username @camouflageandbalayage wrote: “I agree.

“Take care of your hair and you can go months and months without cutting it.”

Another with the username @helen_theproteinpassionista added: “So true.

“I haven’t been to the hairdresser for a year and half of my hair is longer than ever and it’s still healthy, I dye and trim it myself and I’ve saved a lot of money.”
