Yes, that’s right, a very realistic looking manicure with an intricate slug design seems to be all the rage in the beauty community – so would YOU dare to wear it?

While millions of Brits look for effective tricks to banish pesky slugs from their gardens, beauty fans in the US are putting molluscs on their nails.

The rather bizarre trend, created by nail guru Huyen from California, has taken Instagram by storm, leaving people horrified and seriously impressed.

Sharing a photo of her jaw-dropping artwork on the platform, Huyen confessed she had a special place in her heart for the common garden invader.

“I love slugs,” wrote the beauty professional in the caption of the post now viral.

Close-up photos revealed several 3D slugs, all in different shades of brown and with slimy tentacles and a foot on their lower body.

According to the extremely talented genius, she created the fake slugs herself, carefully molding and painting each figurine by hand.

This isn’t the only unusual nail design she’s created — Huyen’s Instagram page features a number of unconventional looks, including 3D spikes, spiders, other insects, as well as little mice.

However, as skilled and talented as Huyen may be, the sticky nails have proven to be a little too much for some people on Instagram.

One mortified person appreciated her work, writing, “I’m sorry this was amazingly done, but I’m petrified of slugs and can’t look at this post without gagging.

”Again, beautiful works of art, but I just can’t do it.”

Another agreed, adding: “I have a phobia of slugs and this has driven me crazy!”

Someone chimed in: ”They look so real my jaw is on the floor.”

But the bizarre manicure also won over countless fans, as one beauty lover shouted: “THESE ARE SO SLUGGIN CUTEEEE.”

“OMG this is good,” a fellow Instagram user couldn’t get over the look.

“My God, this is fantastic! It’s not as cute in real life… but on your nails? Incredibly cute! ”, said a third fanatic.

Nail trends for 2024

Last year we painted our nails every color of the rainbow. But what will we ask of our nail technicians in 2024?

According to celebrity nail artist Kim Truong, the ‘dark academic’ trend will see the rise of dark, dirty colors.

Nail technician Malkia Brown has claimed that glossy nails will be huge in 2024.

Trang Ho, a nail educator from Australia, explained that the abstract nail trend is expected to become popular this year.

Meanwhile, UK nail expert Julita Fagan predicted a rise in the ‘blush’ nail trend.

At the same time, Carolina Lopez Roque, founder of an Amsterdam beauty salon, predicted that classic red nails are back.

Speaking of unusual nail trends, Benny Blanco recently left social media users utterly horrified with his pickled fingers.

The 36-year-old, who is dating Selena Gomez, 31, reportedly even asked his nail technician to paint his girlfriend’s favorite brand of pickle too, Yahoo! previously reported.

The star, who began dating the singer in mid-2023, shared close-up photos of her pickled feet via Instagram.

Both big toes included the logo of Selena’s favorite pickle brand – Best Maid Pickles — while the rest of her fingers sported complex, realistic nail art that resembled pickles.
