A SKINCARE fan has told how they treat under-eye wrinkles with moisturizing ingredients.

When starting an anti-aging regimen, it’s better to start small than to dive into advanced treatments, they said.

Editor @thisisthewell shared their tried-and-true method after colleague @opalandolive posted a photo of the under-eye area.

“As [do you] treat wrinkles under eyes?” they asked.

Thisisthewell explained that, just like the original poster, they have naturally dry, dehydrated skin with fine lines under their eyes.

“Everyone is telling you to go in for the big guns (seriously, guys, come on), but I think you should start small, with hydrating ingredients,” they said.

WHAT TO USE AND WHY

The Redditor then laid out the four-step routine that works for them.

“Apply a hyaluronic acid serum to your face before it is completely dry after cleansing/spraying water,” they said.

“I personally prefer the Japanese brand Hada Labo because I can layer if the weather is dry.

“Their hyaluronic acid lotions are basically watery, moisturizing toners, but now you can get all kinds of hyaluronic acid products, which is great.

“I do it morning and night and it makes a huge difference.

“You would see some difference within a few days if you use it morning and afternoon and use a good sealing moisturizer on top, so it’s a quick fix and is good for the skin in general.”

I had dark circles and veins under my eyes – an $18 drugstore purchase brightened and plumped them up, it’s a ‘plumping effect’

Hada Labo Gokujun Premium Hyaluronic Solution is currently available on Amazon for $15.99.

The skincare fan recommended a follow-up serum.

“The peptide serum stimulates collagen production,” they said.

“I like Timeless because they are formulated based on clinical efficacy.

Anti-aging tips

  • Keep your skin hydrated internally by drinking water and externally with moisturizer.
  • Always use sunscreen, even if you are not in direct sunlight.
  • Use Vitamin C to brighten your skin and don’t forget to apply it to your neck.

“Honestly, I got into this during lockdown and I’m sold. It took me three weeks to see the first results.”

The third step is to apply a common ingredient used to fade dark spots.

“Vitamin C [is an] antioxidant and stimulates collagen production,” they said.

“Some people experience tingling, so if you feel like your skin is sensitive, you can start with a lower concentration. 15-20% is best, however. It’s also very good for fading acne marks and erythema.”

Finally, they highlighted the importance of daily use of sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30, saying that it should even be applied to the eyelids.
