In it @billiesteele_fit account, she showed off her dramatic transformation, now with blonde hair and glamorous makeup.

The fitness fanatic added: “When you go from looking like this at age 40… to looking like this at age 50.”

She joked “you start waving at people differently.”

Her video racked up over 5,000 likes and people were surprised at how unrecognizable she looked just a few years later.

Explaining the transformation, Billie said: “I care about how I look and I’m not ashamed to admit it.

“When I gained more than 20 kg, I stopped taking care of myself and my appearance was worse than it had ever been in my entire life, in my late 40s.

“When I looked bad. I felt bad.

“Three years ago I decided to lose weight and get healthy.

“The more self-care I dedicated to myself and the more weight I lost, the better I took care of my appearance. When I look good, I feel good.”

Billie also responded to people who criticized her by focusing on her appearance.

I’m 31 but people think I’m 21 – my skincare routine helps me look a decade younger, I double cleanse every night

She added: “I don’t think that makes me vain.

“It just makes me proud of who I am and what I’ve accomplished in my 50s.”

Many people praised her hard work and dedication.

One person wrote: “You are really inspiring me. You are a rock star! Thank you for sharing your journey.”

Another added: “Respect 2 years now working to become like you! And I did it.”

Billie responded, “That’s so amazing, I’m so happy for you, SO happy for you.”

The biggest beauty mistakes

Fabulous beauty editor Tara Ledden shared the do’s and don’ts when it comes to beauty.

“No matter how much time and money you spend on your beauty routine, if you don’t get the basics right, the rest will be wasted.

“There aren’t many non-negotiables, but these are the biggest beauty mistakes that sabotage your regimen.”

  • Do not use SPF: Sun damage is the main cause of premature skin aging, so if you want to keep your skin looking plump and glowing, sun cream is vital.
  • Using Expired Products: At best, they are ineffective and don’t deliver the results they promise; at worst, they cause irritation and infection. The shelf life of beauty products is different – for example, mascara usually lasts 3 to 6 months, while lipstick can last 9 to 18 months. Check the ‘POA’ symbol on the packaging (it looks like a bottle and will have a number within how many months it is safe once opened. If you don’t remember when you opened the product, throw it away and start over, marking the month and the year with permanent marker on the packaging.
  • Not knowing your tones: If you are using makeup in the wrong tones, it will never look natural no matter how much you blend! An easy trick to find out if you have cool, warm or neutral undertones is to check the veins on your wrist – if they look blue you have cool undertones, if they look green you have warm undertones and if they are a mix you have neutral.
  • Bypassing the thermal protector: It may seem unnecessary, but just like sun damage to your skin, excess heat is the most common cause of hair damage. So if you want shiny, healthy hair, or are trying to grow it longer, using a heat protection product is key.
  • Not washing your face before going to bed: It’s that simple: if you don’t wash your face before going to sleep, everything that remains on your skin during the day stays there for longer, clogging the pores and drying out the surface. Any skin care applied on top won’t be effective with a layer of dirt underneath, and you’ll probably end up with dirty pillows too – yuck!
