Sought after by A-list celebrities around the world, a top hairdresser has shared her tips for perfect extensions and must-have products.
Kim Kimble has enchanted celebrities such as Beyoncé, Rihanna and Shakira on red carpets, film sets and music videos.
Easily recognized as one of the best hairdressers in the entertainment industry, Kim Kimble52, “Kimbleized” a list of A-list celebrities, from Zendaya to Halle Berry.
She’s a regular face behind the scenes on sets of films like Zendaya’s Challengers or Beyoncé’s iconic Coachella performance in 2018.
Kimble is always in the news and always in demand.
Now, she’s made it more affordable than ever to get Hollywood-style hair at a fraction of the cost with her new wig collection with HAIRUWEAR.
When she did the collaboration, she said she wanted it to be aimed at people who want to have “that look” but don’t know how to work with wigs.
“First of all, they have textures that match your hair, you have colors that match. It has a lace front that is easy to blend,” she explained.
LOCKDOWN LESSONS
Kimble has specific methods for ensuring her wigs are secure and that the extensions look natural, but she was afraid to reveal them at first.
“People pay good money to learn this stuff,” she said.

But she emphasized the importance of using the right products in conjunction with the right techniques to lay them.
“We want to make sure you find hair that matches, that suits, that suits you. If you can’t, you can ask a stylist to help figure it out,” she advised.
STAY HERE
Kimble shared how she makes sure wigs stay on in many different settings, from on set to red carpets and behind-the-scenes moments.
“Have your hair braided underneath [to make it] easy because you want to make it nice and flat,” she said.
“You want to make sure you’re properly attached to them.”
She added that edge control is good for blending extensions, but said using glue is more difficult.
“If people don’t apply this correctly, they will have huge hair problems, not just hair loss problems,” she warned.
That’s why she’s cautious about telling people to put glue in their hair.
Kimble also said that shine sprays and wax sticks are also good options for taking care of flyaways and blending strands into extensions.
MAIN MYTHS
Kimble, who previously spoke about Beyoncé’s style, debunked some hair hacks that can actually be a waste of money and can even damage your follicles.
Two “always risky” moves she advises against are trying to chemically color or straighten your hair with a relaxer.
There are several reasons why they could be losing hair. I always send them to a dermatologist first.

A relaxer is a type of lotion or cream often used by people with tight or very curly curls. Straightens hair from root to tip.
“You can color a little more easily if you have the right setup and consult your stylist or if you have an easy-to-assemble kit,” she said.
“People were bald front and back because it ripped their hair out.”
Kimble also said to be paying attention to the “University of YouTube” because the social media platform is both a gift and a curse full of useful tools but also misinformation.
“I wouldn’t always trust what I see on YouTube,” she said.
When it comes to wigs and extensions, you must have a specific shampoo and conditioner because extensions are not like natural hair.

She admires people who want to learn how to work with their natural hair, but advises them to consult different sources.
“You can get all kinds of scalp diseases if you don’t really understand how to use something or what to do,” she explained.
COMBAT HAIR LOSS
“There are several reasons why they could be losing hair. I always send them to the dermatologist first,” she said.
Kimble said there could be many reasons why someone’s hair is falling out, such as scalp problems, scalp disease or disability.
“It’s not always an easy thing to point out and figure out, so I always recommend doing that first,” she added.
“In the meantime, you can treat yourself with biotin and collagen,” she recommended.
She also advised against using excessive heat and investing in protective hairstyles, which is exactly where wigs come in as an asset.
WIG MAINTENANCE
The price range for Kimble’s wigs in her recent hair collaboration starts at $199 and goes up to $469.
Kimble wanted affordability and quality to be a priority in developing her wig line.
Previously, when people walked into your salon, there was a long process to create the type of wig extensions they wanted.
First they chose a custom color and cut and then went to the salon to wash and style.
With the wigs already developed, it eliminates this step, and also provides maintenance products to keep it vibrant.
“When it comes to wigs and extensions, you must have a specific shampoo and conditioner because extensions are not like natural hair,” said the stylist.
“The oil travels down the hair shaft. That doesn’t happen in wigs and extensions.”
She said sulfate-free detangling shampoos and conditioners are “really good” when it comes to extensions and wigs.
She recommends Extension Care shampoo and conditioner from her Signature Collection, which are affordable for under $30.
“We made one that works for extensions that work for me because we specialize in extensions in our salon,” she explained.
“Conditioner is really good for just detangling and being light and not the main thing, but also shampoo is the most important thing because we don’t want our shampoo to split our hair,” she said.
