Your “most important” tip for preventing premature aging in these areas doesn’t have to cost a lot.
Skincare Addict Founder, Dr. Blair Murphy-Rose, is a leading board-certified cosmetic, medical, and surgical dermatologist in New York Laser and Skin Surgery Center.
Previously, she told The US Sun how her hands first show signs of aging.
She said many people neglect them and shared her dermatological tips to keep them plump and young.
Now, she’s revealed several other sneaky signs of aging that people often overlook in their skin care.
SMILING SIGNS
Don’t spend all your time protecting your face at the expense of other parts of your body.
“In addition to the hands, other often overlooked places where we show signs of aging include the neck and décolleté, earlobes, hair, skin around the eyes, and elbows and knees,” she said.
According to the expert, the “most important” anti-aging tip for the skin is daily sun protection to help prevent premature aging in these areas.

She also said to avoid heavy earrings, use protective nail coatings, and incorporate scalp and hair treatments to maintain health and appearance.
She recommended CeraVe Therapeutic Hand Cream as a “rich yet fast-absorbing hand cream” that “packs the power” for ultra-hydration, to plump skin and lock in moisture.
LAZY LESSON
For those who don’t want to spend all day applying products to their face, she recommended her “lazy girl” skincare routine.
She first said to opt for a gentle cleanser morning and night, like Skincare Junkie Gentle Jelly Facial Cleanse.
Next, she suggested following up with an antioxidant moisturizer, like Skincare Junkie Megadose Super Antioxidant Face Moisturizer.
Tips to combat aging in your hands
Dr. Blair Murphy-Rose, founder of Skincare Addictsaid hands are often forgotten, with most women focusing on facial skin care.
“One of the first places we show signs of aging are our hands, which accumulate a ton of sun exposure, and therefore sun damage, over time,” said Dr. Murphy-Rose.
The expert analyzed some of the telltale signs of aging in the hands and how to combat them.
Murphy-Rose also advised anyone concerned about wrinkled hands to regularly apply “topical antioxidants to protect against free radical damage that occurs at the cellular and DNA levels.”
“This will defend against the loss of collagen and elastin and protect against hyperpigmentation over time,” she explained.
“Keeping your hands well hydrated helps keep your skin soft and promotes a more youthful appearance,” he explained.
She also said “consider using a topical containing retinol to help promote collagen production.”
Lifestyle choices can also help promote youthful-looking hands, including eating a well-balanced diet, drinking plenty of water, getting adequate sleep, reducing stress and avoiding smoking.
Murphy-Rose explained that everyone should take “steps to prevent cumulative UV exposure,” which includes applying a broad-spectrum mineral sunscreen every day of the year.
She also recommended investing in UPF gloves, which are specifically designed to be used in warmer conditions.
This will “defend your skin against environmental stressors and SPF throughout the day.”
Lastly, she said to apply a moisturizer, especially one that contains retinol, at night before bed.
TO CLEAN
Plus, she shared a convenient beauty buy that provides a deep, gentle cleanse.
She said many love the convenience of an exfoliating pad like the Skincare Junkie Pore Therapy Daily Toner Pad.
It minimizes pores and prevents breakouts to “clean pores and exfoliate deeply but gently.”
“These are also a great rescue treatment if you fall asleep with your makeup on,” she added.
Murphy-Rose shared her step-by-step method for greater effectiveness.
“As soon as you wake up, wash off your makeup and then apply your pad to reduce the risk of breakouts, followed by a moisturizer,” she said.
