AN Indian skincare fan has shared the kitchen ingredients she uses to exfoliate her skin.

She explained that the staples of East Indian cuisine were incredibly underrated for their beauty and health benefits.

Editor Notable-Low-643 shared her skin care tips in a viral post.

Instead of harsh physical exfoliants that can damage the skin, she opts for grains and powders as a natural remedy.

“Ground bark powder, rice powder or flour (whole wheat or chickpeas) are excellent physical exfoliants that do not cause micro-tears on the skin,” she said.

Instead of introducing a new layer of skin, she explained that the powders proved to be much gentler.

“They act more like skin polishes,” she said.

“Depending on your skin’s needs, mix it with cold boiled milk, honey, curd or aloe vera gel to make a paste. Rice powder also soothes skin with rosacea.”

For those with darker skin, she recommends turmeric powder to give skin a dewy glow.

“In my opinion, it doesn’t work on fair skin that looks blemished,” she said.

“Even on some light brown skin. But on darker, warm-toned skin, it’s beautiful.”

“In my experience, a good substitute [for] Turmeric powder for lighter skin is beetroot powder mixed with a little honey,” she added.

“It stains the lips too, so [you] you can also leave it on [the] lips.”

For an easy and calming homemade toner recipe, she recommends brewing unsweetened green or chamomile tea.

To store the “toners”, she transfers the teas to spray bottles and stores them in the refrigerator.

“[They] It’s an excellent toner for oily or combination skin,” she said.

“It also works as a cooling mist during the summer. Just change the tea and clean the bottle every three days or so.

Others echoed her skin care tips, including one who saved money after running out of her favorite exfoliant.

“My favorite exfoliant I’ve ever used has doubled in price in the last few years and I can’t afford it,” she said.

“It turns out it’s mostly made from rice powder!”

“I love this! But I agree with turmeric for clear skin. I tried it once and it felt like a banana after rinsing it off,” said another.

“My Indian friend, however, felt amazing after rinsing!”
