A RECENT study has revealed that self-conscious Brits have canceled a number of events and opportunities because of skin problems.

Four in 10 adults have canceled dates, parties and even rescheduled job interviews because of skin problems.

And 44 percent admit they don’t feel confident about the appearance of their skin, while 18 percent said it often or always affects their mental health.

For exactly half, wrinkles are another element that concerns them, and 44% are frequently bothered by blackheads and whiteheads.

Dr Sonia Khorana, GP and specialist in dermatology at Hero Cosmetics‘ Mighty Patch, who commissioned the research, said: “Having bad skin can really affect you, your confidence can take a huge hit and it can be incredibly isolating at times.

“It’s not just the physical symptoms, but the emotional and psychological impact that can be overwhelming.

“That’s why it’s so important to provide a solution that can help people take control of their skin when they feel like control is out of their hands.

“This can help people combat their skin problems and get into a position where they no longer have to hide or hide and lose their lives.”

The study also found that 39% have a beauty regimen that they practice religiously every day.

But almost three in 10 (29 percent) like to change up their skincare routine and the products they use every few months.

When they’re having a bad skin day, 19 percent will avoid a photo opportunity, nine percent will pretend their camera wasn’t working for a video call, and six percent came into work saying they were sick.

The most common places people get blemishes are the nose (43 percent), chin (12 percent) and near the lips (11 percent).

Stress (59 percent), hormones (55 percent) and poor diet (37 percent) are the main causes.

It found that 44% are guilty of picking at the spots, while 43% can’t help but scratch or keep touching the spots.

More than two-thirds (69 percent) have tried various tricks to try to get rid of blemishes and acne, including witch hazel (23 percent), pimple patches (12 percent) and honey masks (10 percent).

Almost a fifth (19 percent) follow skincare experts on social media for tips and advice.

But of those who participated in the study OnePoll. with16 percent said it can often make them feel worse about their skin.

Dr Sonia Khorana of Hero Cosmetics added: “Your skin is a reflection of your overall well-being and looking after it can lead to greater confidence and a better quality of life.

“It’s essential to remember that everyone’s skin journey is unique and finding what works for you can make all the difference.

“By addressing the physical and emotional aspects of skin care, we hope to empower people to feel comfortable and confident in their own skin.”
