Wayne Goss (@waynegoss), makeup artist and YouTuber, warned against a popular blush tip that changes the shape of your face.

He explained that the common rule of thumb was stupider and ages those who follow it.

“People make the big mistake of smiling when they put on blush,” Goss said.

“This is a common mistake that people make very often. Ultimately it lifts the cheeks and what goes up must come down at some point.

“This means the blush will be lower than necessary, making you look older.”

For a youthful look, Goss advises keeping your makeup “simple and consistent.”

“Any overdone makeup will imply that you are trying to hide a lot underneath,” he said.

“Find a look that suits you and stick to it. Not only will you look younger in person, but your photos will look much more stylish too!”

A few telltale signs can help buyers on a budget spot red flags and low-quality materials.

“Look for soft bristles; that’s always a great starting point,” Goss said.

The professional also recommends that beauty fans inspect the handle, or tip, of a brush before purchasing.

“Ensuring that the construction of the bristles is well thought out is also essential, and that the tip is locked onto the wires, ensuring that it is very tight,” he explained.

“Generally speaking, a good makeup brush is soft and you can tell it has quality.

“A poor quality brush will have hard fibers and [the] the overall building will look bad – think a pharmacy.

Goss stressed that “makeup brushes are very important” and should not be replaced by fingers.

“You’re able to get complex application with a makeup brush that you can’t get with your fingers, and while your fingers can apply a product, you can’t blend shadows with your fingers,” he said. .

Those who want to extend the life of their brushes as long as possible should pay attention to brush care habits.

“Do not get the tip wet and do not allow water to enter at any point, as this may loosen the glue,” advised Goss.

Goss also encouraged beginners to invest in a line of essential brushes for a flawless foundation.

“A foundation brush is key, as is a blush and bronzer brush, to ensure you can blend correctly,” he said.

“Having two eye brushes is also key, as you’ll need one for the blender brush and one for the creases.”

A good foundation brush can prevent a messy look, but how the foundation is applied is important.

“Never saturate a brush with foundation. The best process is to spread the foundation around the face and use the brushes to blend it properly and avoid streaks on the face,” said Goss.

‘A lot of people dip their brush into foundation and rub it over their face, and then question why it’s streaky. You need to have foundation on your face first – that’s huge.

The right tool can make or break an eyeshadow, blush, or highlight look.

“Crease brushes are your best friend when it comes to eyeshadow. You can use them to apply all over the eyelid and also blend,” he said.

‘As for blush, generally speaking, follow the natural lines of your cheek. Blush needs to be applied to the apple of the cheek and not the cheekbone.

“The highlighter needs to be placed over the brush so that there is harmony and synchronization.”
