In a world where beauty products launch daily and trends change like the wind, keeping up can feel overwhelming.

And that’s not to mention the cost, with some conventional foundations costing £40 and new skincare sets costing triple figures.

Luckily, there’s a little trick you can use to get quality beauty products without spending a lot on them individually.

Enter: beauty boxes.

Beauty boxes are filled with a selection of products, usually covering skincare, makeup, hair care, perfumes and nail polish.

For those who love trying new things but don’t know where to start, beauty boxes provide a curated experience.

They’re a much cheaper way to get your beauty fix, and some even offer hundreds of pounds in savings.

WHAT IS THE NEXT?

Next is a beauty box hub, with a dedicated section on its website for purchasing them.

From seasonal offerings (think birthdays, Mother’s Day and so on) to starter kits and “summer heroes”, the fashion giant’s bosses have thought of one for every occasion.

And the latest Next beauty box is perfect for anyone looking to glow on the cheap.

The Glow Up Beauty Box is worth over £75 but will only set you back £20 for seven products.

“With the promise of summer just around the corner, now is the perfect time to get your face and body out of winter and glow,” Next bosses said.

How to get £120 worth of products for £22 at Next, including Elemis face wash, Benefit mascara and a £29 perfume

“Our Glow Up Beauty Box contains everything you need to glow from some of the biggest names in the beauty world, including Rituals and Nuxe, with three full-size items.

“From Clarins’ cult classic Beauty Flash Balm to Manucurist’s new Active Glow nail polish (worth £16) and ICONIC London’s Lit & Luminious Powder (worth £25).

“Treat yourself to an afternoon of pampering and exfoliation, spread and spritz these beautiful products for a glowing finish.”

WHAT IS INCLUDED?

As mentioned below, there is a Manucurist Active Glow nail polish and an ICONIC London, Lit & Luminous powder in the Glow Up Beauty Box.

The biggest beauty mistakes

Fabulous beauty editor Tara Ledden shared the do’s and don’ts when it comes to beauty.

“No matter how much time and money you spend on your beauty routine, if you don’t get the basics right, the rest will be wasted.

“There aren’t many non-negotiables, but these are the biggest beauty mistakes that sabotage your regimen.”

  • Do not use SPF: Sun damage is the main cause of premature skin aging, so if you want to keep your skin looking plump and glowing, sun cream is vital.
  • Using Expired Products: At best, they are ineffective and don’t deliver the results they promise; at worst, they cause irritation and infection. The shelf life of beauty products is different – for example, mascara usually lasts 3 to 6 months, while lipstick can last 9 to 18 months. Check the ‘POA’ symbol on the packaging (it looks like a bottle and will have a number within how many months it is safe once opened. If you don’t remember when you opened the product, throw it away and start over, marking the month and the year with permanent marker on the packaging.
  • Not knowing your tones: If you are using makeup in the wrong tones, it will never look natural no matter how much you blend! An easy trick to find out if you have cool, warm or neutral undertones is to check the veins on your wrist – if they look blue you have cool undertones, if they look green you have warm undertones and if they are a mix you have neutral.
  • Bypassing the thermal protector: It may seem unnecessary, but just like sun damage to your skin, excess heat is the most common cause of hair damage. So if you want shiny, healthy hair, or are trying to grow it longer, using a heat protection product is key.
  • Not washing your face before going to bed: It’s that simple: if you don’t wash your face before going to sleep, everything that remains on your skin during the day stays there for longer, clogging the pores and drying out the surface. Any skin care applied on top won’t be effective with a layer of dirt underneath, and you’ll probably end up with dirty pillows too – yuck!

There’s also a deluxe Clarins Beauty Flash Balm sample. A 50ml bottle of this face cream costs £38.

A 10ml bottle of Pai The Impossible Glow Bronze drops, worth £19, is similarly included for facial care.

For the body, a tub of Rituals Sakura Body Scrub worth £19 is included, as well as a deluxe sample of L’Occitane’s Almond Bath Oil.

You’ll also receive a deluxe sample of the viral NUXE Huile Prodigieuse Shimmer Multipurpose Dry Oil.
