Hair care products like shampoo and conditioner can prevent hair loss if they contain six key ingredients, says an expert.
She shared can’t-miss tips for keeping hair healthy and promoting growth.
Sarah Carrino is the founder of UK-based lifestyle brand Just Flexiblewhich sells health supplements and sportswear.
Among its latest products is Just Flex Hair Skin & Nails Complex, gummies containing biotin, vitamins C and E for healthier hair and glowing skin.
Speaking to The US Sun, she shared advice on great hair.
AMAZING INGREDIENTS
Carrino said there are several ingredients to look for when purchasing hair products to prevent or reduce hair loss.
Among them is niacinamide, which is a form of vitamin B3.
“Niacinamide is an excellent ingredient for hair loss shampoos and conditioners,” she said.
“Improves circulation in hair follicles, providing more nutrients and oxygen to promote stronger, thicker hair growth.
“It also reinforces the skin’s moisture barrier on the scalp.”

She said caffeine is often added to hair loss treatments because it is believed to promote growth.
She said it stimulates hair follicles and prolongs the growth phase of the hair cycle.
Another nutrient known for its lengthening properties is biotin.
“Biotin is a B vitamin that plays a role in the production of keratin, the main protein that makes up hair,” said Carrino.
“Including biotin in supplements or hair products can support healthy hair growth.”
Ingredients that improve scalp health are also among his recommendations.
“Salicylic acid is a beta-hydroxy acid that gently exfoliates the scalp, removing dead skin cells and buildup that can clog hair follicles and inhibit growth,” she said.
“It is often included in medicated anti-hair loss shampoos.”
Just be natural with your hair. No extreme heat from appliances like hair dryers and straighteners.

She revealed that Capilia Longa is “faster acting” than the over-the-counter minoxidil treatment.
“Capilia Longa is a clinically proven plant ingredient that reduces hair loss by up to 89% and increases hair density by 52% in 150 days of use,” she said.
“Saw palmetto herb contains fatty acids and plant sterols that can help block 5-alpha reductase, the enzyme that converts testosterone to DHT, a hormone linked to hair loss.”
What causes hair loss?
Carrino revealed the seven common causes of hair loss in women:
“1. Female pattern baldness (androgenetic alopecia): This is the most common cause of hair loss worldwide,” she said.
“It is hereditary and caused by hormones called androgens and genetics. Hair gradually becomes thinner all over the scalp and the hairline recedes.
“two. Telogen effluvium: This is temporary hair loss caused by stress, illness, nutritional deficiencies, hormonal changes (such as after pregnancy), or certain medications.
“Hair falls out more than normal, but regrowth is possible once the trigger is resolved.
“3. Alopecia areata: An autoimmune condition in which the body attacks hair follicles, causing patchy hair loss on the scalp, face, or other areas.
“It can lead to total baldness in some cases.
“4. Traction alopecia: caused by tight hairstyles such as braids, ponytails, or extensions that pull on the hair over time, leading to permanent hair loss.
“5. Nutritional deficiencies: Lack of nutrients such as iron, proteins, zinc or vitamins can contribute to excessive elimination.
“6. Medical conditions: Thyroid disorders, diabetes, lupus, anemia, and scalp infections such as ringworm can cause hair loss.
“7. Medications: Certain medications used for cancer, arthritis, depression, heart problems, and birth control can cause temporary or permanent hair loss.
“Other less common causes include physical or emotional stress, hormonal imbalances and aging.”
SPLENDID STYLES
Carrino said hair loss can be “extremely upsetting,” but she has experienced clients who regain their confidence by following her hair growth tips.
She recommended avoiding “extreme heat” styling tools like hairdryers and straighteners in favor of going natural.
She said the time it takes for hair to grow varies, but careful styling and nutrient-rich products can help.
“One of the best options, especially for those with curly or frizzy hair, is to simply wear your hair loose and natural whenever possible,” she said.
“This gives your hair and scalp a break from any tension.”
