A medical beautician has revealed some of her favorite beauty buys that are proven to take you back in time.
He said one budget item targets “multiple signs of aging,” but his favorite skincare product can be found at his local pharmacy.
Hardik Soni, MD is the founder and Medical Director of Ethos Estética e Bem-Estar.
He shared some of his top tried-and-true anti-aging products that are affordable and high-quality.
BEST VALUE
The Ordinary Buffet is a popular multipeptide serum that “targets multiple signs of aging” and is known for its affordable price.
Another product he recommended is an over-the-counter retinoid called Differin Gel, also known as Adapalene.
Dr. Soni often recommends this for its effectiveness and affordability.
“Retinoids have been studied for decades and have a beneficial effect on the skin. They regenerate and renew skin cells, control oil production and also stimulate collagen,” she explained.
“Adapalene also tends to be less irritating than tretinoin or retinoic acid.”
He recommended using this preparation every night.

“The effects of retinoids can last up to 48 hours, so it may not be necessary to use them every night,” he added.
Soni also suggested SkinMedica’s Replenish Moisturizing Cream, which contains hyaluronic acid, vitamin E, vitamin C, and other calming ingredients.
“It’s great for hydrating and reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. It is safe and effective for all skin types,” he said.
Lastly, he advised incorporating Neutrogena Rapid Wrinkle Repair Regenerating Cream into your regimen, which contains retinol and hyaluronic acid.
Similar to Skin Medica Moisturizing Cream, it is also effective in reducing the appearance of wrinkles and hydrating the skin.
DIY DETAILS
If you’re looking for more natural skincare alternatives, Dr. Soni also shared some natural and DIY methods.
First, he talked about the benefits of aloe vera and its soothing and healing properties that can help with skin hydration and minor irritations.
Applying green tea is a useful tip with antioxidants that help reduce inflammation and protect the skin from damage.
Soni also advised against two natural kitchen essentials that many incorporate into their skincare routines.
Firstly, he warned that lemon juice can cause irritation and increase sensitivity to the sun, which can cause possible damage to the skin.
Baking soda is also “extremely alkaline” and “can disrupt the skin’s natural pH balance,” causing dryness and irritation.
ROYAL REGIME
Soni also shared her personal skincare routine that she uses on combination skin with sensitive tendencies.
In the morning, he cleanses with an AHA/BHA cleanser from Skin Medica and follows with a vitamin C serum for antioxidant protection and shine.
He then applies a lightweight, non-comedogenic moisturizer.
In the last step, he applies broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher and reapplies throughout the day as needed.
For your nighttime routine, less is more.
He uses the same cleanser but then applies Differin gel for its anti-aging and acne-fighting benefits.
Finish with a richer, more moisturizing night cream with peptides and ceramides.
MALE MANDATORY
Dr. Soni also offered some advice aimed at men.
He said many of his male patients prefer simple, effective products like CeraVe Moisturizing Cream and Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel for hydration.
“If there is a single treatment for men, a retinoid like Differin or retinoic acid is sufficient,” he added.
