WHEN your hair gets oily between washes, you may prefer to use dry shampoo.

But according to one beauty guru, that’s the last thing you need — in fact, Tati Westbrook claims the secret to fixing oily locks lies in the skincare aisle.

The 42-year-old beauty guru is a makeup expert, social media influencer and YouTube star with a net worth of around £9.5 million.

Despite its value, she revealed how she performs a 10p hack to banish oily hair in seconds.

She says it works so much better than dry shampoo that you might think about never washing your hair again.

In a recent YouTube video, Tati encouraged her followers who suffer from oily hair to get an oil-reducing micellar water.

She uses Bioderma Sébium Micellar Cleansing Water for blemish-prone skin, which costs £13 for 250ml at Lookfantastic.

Then, it decants into a spray bottle.

When her hair is oily (especially after training), Tati sprays micellar water on her hair and then uses a hairdryer to remove the oil.

“It works so well, it’s surprising,” she joked.

“The micellar water is consuming the oil, there is no white flaky residue from the dry shampoo, there is no dirt.

“Your hair will feel so ridiculously fresh, you might be thinking ‘wow, I’ll never need to wash my hair again.’

Tati Westbrook apologizes and blames Shane Dawson and Jeffree Star for feud with James Charles

“This will literally lengthen the bounce and freshness of your hair.”

Tati especially encouraged gym bunnies to try the trick, explaining that it’s particularly useful when your scalp is “covered in sweat.”

“You can’t put talcum powder in your sweaty hair and think it’s going to turn out okay – it’s not,” she said.

What is the science behind this?

Micellar water isn’t just a fancy name; is rooted in simple but powerful science.

How to Save Money on Beauty Product Shopping

IF your purse is tighter than ever and you want to save money on your makeup routine, have you considered trying beauty hacks?

The skincare staple contains micelles, which are small clusters of molecules made up of a unique structure of two distinct parts.

These are hydrophilic heads (which attract water) and lipophilic tails (which attract oil).

When mixed in water, these molecules organize themselves into micelles, forming small spherical structures.

When you apply micellar water to oily hair, the micelles come into play.

The lipophilic tails attach to oil, grease and impurities from the scalp and hair, while the hydrophilic heads ensure that the micelles remain suspended in the water.

This dual action allows the micellar water to effectively lift and remove excess oil and dirt without the need for vigorous scrubbing or rinsing.
