A HAIRCARE expert has revealed the secret to going longer between washes without your hair looking greasy.

She said her tips can strengthen your locks and make them look delicious.

Victoria panting (@victoriajpanting) is a technical educator at UK-based hair care company Paul Mitchell.

Speaking to The US Sun, she shared advice for improving lock health.

STRENGTHEN THE WIRES

Breathing heavily revealed that going longer between washes can improve your hair and scalp by retaining natural oils.

She said having more sebum protects, hydrates and strengthens your hair, causing less breakage and less brittleness.

“Training your scalp to go longer between washes involves gradually adjusting your hair care routine and giving your scalp time to adapt,” she said.

The hair care expert shared two tips for extending wash intervals.

“If you currently wash your hair every day, start by washing it every other day,” she said.

“Slowly increase the interval between washes by one day a week or every few weeks.

“If you find that you’re washing your hair daily/more frequently because the ends of your hair feel dry but your roots feel fine, using a product like co-wash with lavender and mint could be a fantastic choice.

“This will add moisture to the ends of your hair and provide a very gentle conditioning cleanse at the roots.”

Panting recommended using an affordable product to keep your hair clean between wash days.

“On days when you don’t wash your hair, use dry shampoo to absorb excess oil and keep your hair looking fresh – Paul Mitchell Dry Wash,” she said.

“Be sure to apply it mostly to the roots and let it sit for a few minutes before brushing it out.”

Panting said excessive use of hair products and an unhealthy diet can affect how often hair needs to be washed.

“Limit the use of styling products that can build up on your scalp and hair, as this can make it oily and require more frequent washing,” she said.

The advice comes after trichologist Hannah Gaboardi told The US Sun that eating fruit, vegetables, lean proteins and healthy fats stimulates hair growth.
