GETTING white teeth with a photo finish doesn’t have to cost an arm and a leg.
A dentist has revealed cost-effective tricks you can use to remove stains from your smile.
Dr. Michael J. Weia Manhattan-based cosmetic dentist, spoke exclusively to The US Sun about the best ways to whiten your teeth naturally.
He started with the basics, maintaining good oral hygiene through regular flossing and brushing.
“[This] can help prevent tooth stains and keep them looking brighter,” he explained.
The expert also recommended using an inexpensive kitchen ingredient to keep pearly whites looking pearly and white.

“Baking soda is a natural whitening agent that can help remove surface stains from teeth,” says Dr.
He recommended mixing baking soda with water and using the paste to brush your teeth “a few times a week.”
Wei also advised anyone wanting to whiten their teeth to use diluted hydrogen peroxide as a “mild whitening agent.”
“You can swish a mixture of equal parts water and hydrogen peroxide in your mouth for a minute or two before spitting it out,” he said.

He gave the example of creating a homemade paste with hydrogen peroxide and baking soda.
“Mixing baking soda with a small amount of hydrogen peroxide to create a paste can help remove surface stains from your teeth,” he explained.
“However, it is important to use this mixture in moderation, as excessive use can damage the enamel.”
Wei recommended speaking to a dentist before embarking on your DIY teeth whitening journey.
He also explained that some people use apple cider vinegar as a natural teeth whitener.
“It is important to dilute the vinegar in water and use it in moderation, as it is acidic and can wear down the enamel if used too frequently,” he warned.
Drinking water throughout the day can help rinse away food particles and reduce the chances of stains forming on your teeth.

Finally, Dr. Wei broke down the concept of oil pulling as a way to whiten teeth.
“Swishing coconut oil or sesame oil in your mouth for about 15 to 20 minutes can help remove bacteria and plaque that can cause stains on your teeth,” he said.
“This method is more for general oral health than specifically for teeth whitening.”
FOOD AND DRINK
In addition to practicing oral cleaning, he highlighted the importance of drinking water and eating the right foods.
“Drinking water throughout the day can help rinse away food particles and reduce the chances of stains forming on your teeth,” he said.
He suggested eating crunchy fruits and vegetables, such as apples, carrots, and celery, to help remove surface stains from your teeth.
Wei also recommended limiting your intake of foods and drinks that can stain your teeth.
“If you consume them, rinse your mouth with water afterwards,” he said.
“There are natural remedies that can help whiten your teeth to some extent, although it is important to note that these methods may not be as effective as professional whitening treatments,” he said.
