SHE can usually be found with pale white skin, dark eyeliner, and black lipstick.
But when it comes to meeting her boyfriend’s father, one woman explained how she can “shed the goth” in just 10 minutes.
She used TikTok to share a video of herself, in which she demonstrated the process, which began by taking off her jewelry and brushing her combed back hair.
“POV: I have 10 minutes to get the goth off before I meet my fiancé’s father,” she wrote over the top.
She then cut her bangs and began the makeup removal process.
“Yes, I know baby wipes are bad. I don’t want to hear it!” she wrote over it.
She started by wiping off her dark lipstick, before removing her eye makeup and foundation.
Next, he went to brush his teeth and apply moisturizer, before dressing in his “fit” for the meeting – a black vest and denim shorts.
She then began applying her everyday makeup, with her routine consisting of foundation, eyebrow pencil and black eyeliner.
“The fastest eyebrow and eyeliner application in the world,” she laughed.
She added some brown eyeliner and finished brushing her hair and putting on her glasses.
“I was ZOOM,” she captioned the video.
People were quick to comment on the clip, with one writing: “You’re actually really pretty without all that goth stuff!”
“Why are you goth? You look beautiful!” another added.
To which the woman replied: “Because I’m goth!”
“You look so much better just cleaning up! Look so beautiful!” a third commented.
“I hate how some people are giving you such backhanded compliments, you look so cute in both styles,” another person added.
But others insisted she looked just as good when she was goth as she did when she was “unworn.”
“From 10/10 to 10/10,” wrote one.
“You’re beautiful goth or no goth – I don’t know why everyone is trying to make you out to be not goth,” added another.
What makes someone a goth?
THEY may stand out from the crowd with their makeup, but what else makes a goth a goth?
The dictionary defines goth as “a person who listens to or plays gothic music, wears mostly black clothing, wears black and white makeup, and often dyes their hair black.”
However, the website WhatisGoth. with explains that a goth is “someone who finds beauty in things that others consider dark.”
The site also says that goths do not always dress in black, are not part of a cult and have different beliefs and religions, and “generally love mythology, the mysterious, the supernatural, culture, traditions, romanticism and nature”.
With the woman responding: “Because that’s what normies do.
“They get uncomfortable when someone is different and try to change them.”
“You’re so pretty in goth or not…how do you do that?” someone said.
And others found issues with the woman’s decision to remove her goth makeup to meet her man’s relatives.
“If you have to change who you are, that means HE’S NOT THE ONE,” one of them raged.
“So they know it’s a bad look?? Yet they decide to keep performing like that?” another asked.
“It’s subjective,” the woman replied.
“I don’t think it’s a bad look, but there’s a time and a place for it.”
“Why?? you are beautiful, why change?” a third asked.
“I wanted to make a good first impression! His father is super calm, but I wanted to play it safe,” she replied.
