A MAKEUP fan has shared a trick that saves money on foundation this summer.
The inexpensive hack, she explained, allows her to match the color of her tanned skin.
Editor Tegdirb1 shared the beauty tip in a viral post.
Instead of spending money on a new bottle of foundation to match her tanned skin, she explained that she simply changes up the foundation she has.
“I use cheap Wet n Wild makeup to darken or lighten my ‘good’ foundation to match my skin throughout the year,” she said.
“Sometimes I tan and then stop, and so on, and that helps keep my foundation blending.
The makeup fan revealed that she mixes a few drops of $7 Photo Focus Foundation from Wet n Wild in a darker tone to make the color perfect.
She added that another trick helps her extend the life of expensive lipsticks.
“I also took lipstick that had dried out a little (my Mac lipsticks always dry out), bottled it, and mixed it with some cheap balm to make it wearable again,” she said.
Other makeup enthusiasts explained that they use a similar technique, although with different products.

“I do the same with my foundation! I use Physician’s Formula tanning cream to mix with my lighter foundations,” said one commenter.
“It works like a charm.”
Some explained that they have invested in color-changing products designed to adjust their liquid products.
“The Body Shop has released little dropper bottles of lightening and darkening foundation specifically for this purpose,” said one commenter.
The product is no longer available, but a budget brand has a similar option.
O NYX Professional Makeup Total Control Pro Drop Foundation Shifter is currently on sale on Amazon.
Prices range from $6 to $7.87 depending on the shade.
Other makeup fans shared their own techniques for extending the life of expensive products.
“Similarly, for dry mascara, just a few drops of contact lens solution will revive it,” one suggested.
While some warned against using expired mascara for fear of bacterial eye infections, others explained that the trick was enough for mascara that dried quickly.
Another Reddit user shared a tip that helps dry mascara go on smoother.
“When I’m in the middle of a tube [of mascara]but it started to get sticky (but it’s not old enough to throw away), I put really hot water in a cup and let the tube sit while I do the rest of my makeup,’ said another.
“It makes it smoother and without lumps, without changing the formula.”
