On a Reddit publishuser Chestybestie explained the hack she uses to elevate her beauty routine.

The Redditor offered context about her skin type, which she described as “the worst combination/dry/oily skin.”

She described her problem as a “super oily T-zone and dry, flaky skin everywhere else.”

The post explained that she had tried a wide variety of moisturizers, but her skin became dry again with “visible flakes” within hours of using them.

“I have tried every moisturizer and serum available for years,” the Reddit user wrote.

“[I] until [tried] lots of variations of hyaluronic acid right after toning but nothing worked.

“I was very close to giving up on having hydrated, dewy skin.”

In a last-ditch effort, the poster decided to try a DIY experiment to transform her appearance.

Her technique involved “spraying toner onto the face after each layer of serum or moisturizer.”

“I basically bought one of those $1 fine mist spray bottles at the dollar store, sanitized it, and filled it with toner,” she explained.

The Redditor called Thayers Witch Hazel Alcohol-Free Toner as your choice.

“I would tone my face, then apply hyaluronic acid and spray toner on my face,” she said.

“I would lightly pat my face with my fingers so that everything was absorbed and then continue with another serum or moisturizer.

“Then, spritz again with toner and pat on, and if my moisturizer is water-based, I would spritz again and pat on again before applying sunscreen and makeup.”

The poster revealed that spritzing on toner was the only change she made to her skincare routine when she noticed the stunning transformation.

“My dry, flaky skin problem is gone, my skin is now dewy and hydrated all day long,” she said.

“It feels hydrated when I wake up, even my oily areas are less shiny because my skin has stopped compensating for excessive sebum production.”

She shared her theory on why the DIY skincare trick worked so well.

“I think it works because the extra water in the toner helps the serums/moisturizers retain more water, thus increasing their hydrating powers,” she said.

“I would say this was the best $1 I’ve ever spent on improving my skin care.”
