What is eyebrow blindness?

Eyebrow blindness refers to a time when people fell victim to shaping their eyebrows based on current trends.

This includes the 90s and early 2000s, when celebrities and fans who idolized these tastemakers frowned.

Around the 2010s, people began to exchange their thin eyebrows for extremely thick eyebrows with exaggerated contours.

Regardless of the size of a person’s eyebrows, we weren’t sure if these trends looked good on us.

As eyebrow trends continue to evolve, tiny eyebrows have stopped many people from following new trends because they now can’t get their eyebrows to grow back.

However, people are now reflecting on their own beauty choices that were once viral trends.

When did eyebrow blindness go viral?

Eyebrow blindness went viral in June 2024 after TikTok users began sharing their own personal experiences with the term.

Since going viral, the eyebrow blindness has racked up more than 160 million views and comments on the social media app.

Others are even wondering if they currently have eyebrow blindness.

However, eyebrow aficionado Damone Roberts told The US Sun that we shouldn’t follow trends when it comes to eyebrows, but rather find what looks best for our individual face shape.

Tips for maintaining and growing thicker eyebrows

“Social media is now driving trends,” Damone said.

“People just aren’t realizing that you shouldn’t follow fashion trends with your eyebrow style.

“The secret is to find the right way for you, individually, to bring out your best.

“People quickly jumped on any trend and regretted it several months later.”

He went on to say that from now on, if we don’t know how to shape our eyebrows, we should let the professionals take over.

“To fix mistakes, look for a professional. Make sure you have seen their work.

“The best eyebrows for a Sarah may not be the best for a Brittany.”

Which celebrities have spoken out about blindness in their eyebrows?

As the 90s and early 2000s were notorious for the era of thin eyebrows, many celebrities led the trend and have since spoken out about eyebrow blindness.

Former plucker and renowned actress Olivia Wilde once opened up about her eyebrows, saying, “I don’t tweeze my eyebrows,” as per Us weekly.

“I’ve been letting them grow for years. I try to fill them in whenever nature leaves me.”

Demi Lovato also joined the thin eyebrow trend during her Disney days.

Now, she has thick eyebrows and attributes her hair growth success to Latisse, which is known for making eyelashes grow.

According to Pop crushDemi said: “It’s a miracle. It is a product that helps your eyelashes grow a lot.

“I was like, ‘Oh, it’ll be a good idea to fill in my eyebrows.’

“And then I used Latisse on my eyebrows, and they took over my role as a judge on the X Factor.

“I mean, they had a mind of their own.”
