A woman has revealed the DIY trick she uses to prevent visible signs of aging on her skin.

Commenting on a Reddit publishuser Starcat222 shared how she learned the simple trick.

The author of the post explained that the technique was passed down through her family.

She swapped her anti-aging skincare regimen for the all-natural solution.

“My grandmother used to buy aloe vera plants, open them, and rub the goo on her skin,” said the Redditor.

The social media user decided to practice her green thumb after seeing how well the plant worked for her grandmother.

“She died at the age of 79 with very glowing skin and barely any wrinkles on her face,” she explained.

The experts from National Library of Medicine studied the role of aloe vera in anti-aging efforts.

After interviewing 30 women over the age of 45, they found that “facial wrinkles have improved significantly.”

“Aloe gel significantly improves wrinkles and elasticity in photoaged human skin,” they concluded.

Experts reported “an increase in collagen production in photoprotected skin and a decrease in the expression of the MMP-1 gene, which degrades collagen.”

Skin care experts have not yet determined whether the concentration level of aloe vera affects results.

WebMD also explained the effect of aloe vera gel on skin aging.

Although it cannot eliminate existing wrinkles, the ingredient is effective in preventing new expression lines.

“It will not eliminate old lines and wrinkles [but] Aloe vera may help prevent further signs of aging around the eyes,” they said.

“The ingredients in aloe vera also help the skin produce collagen and elastin.”

This means the gel can “make your skin appear smoother and more elastic.”

They also explained the best way to use the gel from an aloe vera plant.

“To use fresh aloe vera, first cut a piece of the plant,” experts said.

“Remove the gel from the leaf with a spoon or similar tool and massage a small amount into the skin.
