A mother has been dubbed “vile” for her “disgusting” act at a public swimming pool, leaving thousands divided.
The young woman revealed that she follows a vigorous swimming routine every week with her family – even on menstruation days.
But while this is completely normal, what sparked the fury was the mother’s open admission that she doesn’t use a tampon or menstrual cup at the moment.
“I swim every Friday night with my other half and my son,” the fitness-loving dad shared on Mumsnet.
”My sister told me it was horrible to swim while bleeding.”
“But it was at the end of my cycle and my period had already ended,” she tried to justify her “disgusting” actions.
Mom confirmed that if it was a “heavy” flow day, she wouldn’t get into the pool with “heavy” flow – but getting in late in the cycle wasn’t a problem in her eyes.
“My sister said it’s not fair to others swimming.

“Are there really any rules about this? Would a tampon be suitable if you wanted to swim?
The swimming enthusiast also explained why she wasn’t too keen on using tampons when swimming during her period.
”I’m not sure about the others, but if I shower while [wearing] a plug, it will eventually fill with water and expand rapidly.”
Just like her sister, many social media users were surprised by the mother’s “vile” behavior as they rushed to attack her.
“Period swimwear for light days and cups for heavier days”, recommended one of them.
“There is no way I would go into a public pool where people could see blood running down my legs. Plus, it’s just not the right thing to do.”
”So basically bleeding for free in the pool? Isn’t that equivalent to peeing in the pool? This is prohibited,” another told the woman.
Is it unhygienic to swim during your period?

“Menstrual fluids, which contain blood, vaginal fluids and proteins, are easily treated by chlorine in swimming pools, along with sweat and urine,” said the team at Tipa period tracking app.
”Chlorine prevents the growth of bacteria and other microbes, making it safe for people to swim.
”In short, swimming during your period is perfectly hygienic, especially in well-maintained pools.”
Meanwhile, a third thought it was “worse” than urinating in the pool.
However, not everyone saw a problem with the mother’s free bleeding in the water.
“There’s nothing wrong with what she’s doing, I used to wear tampons, but now I just wear period bathing suits with shorts over them and I don’t have any leaks,” replied one woman.
”In my experience, water pressure stops or slows menstrual flow, if there is any leakage I doubt you will notice. It’s not like you’re leaving a trail of blood,” agreed another.
